I am planing on making a “go kart power wheels”. I have a power wheels and the front axle would work but the rear axle needs to be changed/upgraded. I am wondering what I can use to make a rear axle. I don’t really want to buy a whole frame since it costs a lot. I also don’t want to buy a pre made axle because that also cost a lot of money. I’m only 13 years old so I might not have as much experience and money as others. I also don’t have a welder yet but I am trying to look for a good deal on one. I already have a gear sprocket and possibly brakes and wheels.

You need a straight, solid, steel rod at the very least. Maybe look for a super cheap go kart frame [rusting hulk] on Failbook Marketplace to cannibalize [steal parts from]?

Show us what you got. We like pics here.

Your sprocket and brakes may dictate what your axle dimensions are
Thanks, but I’m not too worried about the brakes and sprocket right now. I have tons of different sizes. I also know someone who has a bunch of different sizes for super cheap. I’m just trying to get some ideas about a axle

Well it says Tecumseh on it, so the jury's still out. But based on the pics it seems ok. Do you mind me asking why you took the engine apart?
I had a few people say I should take it apart and take a look at it/clean it up before I waste my time making the go kart. Do you think I’m better off buying a new harbor freight predator 212 or is it not that much more powerful?

A Predator will eat that Tecumseh's lunch, dinner and dessert and still be hungry. If you've got $150 handy, boat anchor the Teckasheema and go to HF.

That’s my plan. I have had a few people as well as my teacher talk me into it. Now I just have to convince my parents To let me buy it.

I have done a little research and I think I am going to use a predator 212 with a 2speed transmission and torque converter. I know it’s going to cost way more than I want but I think it will be worth it. Has anyone ever done this? Or are there any pros or cons for my idea? Also what do you think I could possibly sell this for when it’s done (If it all works out) I’m located in Wisconsin if that matters

This Is what I plan on using. Will it be worth my time and money? Or will it not work? I saw a review that said it could do 45mph in first gear and 75mph in second gear before it got too scary But I’m sure the numbers are a little over exaggerated. It also said you will need to weld a bracket and need to cut the plastic cap off of the oil check hole.

Loads of people have done this. While you are spending someone else's money, get a torque converter.

There are no 2 speed gearboxes. It might be able to go 35.
You may be right, I meant 2 speed as in forward and reverse even though that is not what 2 speed means. Sorry for the confusion
