I need to know what transmission to use, and where to find one cheap.

So, I have a little all terrain go kart project that I'm working on right now and i need to find out what transmission to use for it. I'd prefer not to use a CVT/Torque Converter and I'd much rather have an actual shift-able transmission.

Specs:
45hp 725cc twin barrel carb swappped supercharged Kohler courage 26(?) v twin

currently mounted output shaft down but I'm planning on longitudinally mounting it very soon

I'm also very broke so any cheap suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Will send pics when I get a chance to

Did you modify the oil system so it can be mounted longitudinal? With 45hp unfortunately nothing will be cheap. I don’t have suggestions but someone here might.

The Jeffco is the only thing that I know will hold up. They ain’t cheap! If you could get a Harley trans for a modern trike conversion with reverse that could work too I guess. What supercharger did you use? How does it run? Got any pictures?

There were "real transmission" on early garden tractors, and some of those were really stout. Forty-five HP is, however, also very stout, and gearing would be a problem. Just doing some thinking out loud, here.

Did you say cheap ? maybe you better find a different hobby. The only cheap things about go Karts is what you weld, fabricate, invent, or
make...everything you can buy.......will not be cheap !
