A Talon you say... I don't have the manual for a ZR Talon (didn't even know carter made a ZR tbh)..
but I have some for different Carter 150cc Talons with a gy6 engine
there are two different setups essentially..
so, if you have a speedometer and a cigarette lighter, or neither is almost important.
(turning lights or not to simplify it

)
Say you have a cigarette lighter (GSR150):
one wire (red in my manual) will be fed directly to the positive terminal of the battery via a 2x15A fuse
the second (black in my manual) will be fed directly to the black wire of the Hi/LO Switch and the cigarette lighter and eventually the black wire on the CDI (6pin cdi right plug (2pin) lower pos)
the third and last wire (yellow/red in my manual) is directly conencted to the starter relais.
Say you do NOT have a cigarette lighter (GSX150)
one wire (green in my manual) is grounded
the second (green/white in my manual) is fed to the CDI (6pin, left plug (4pin) left column lower row)
the third and last wire (yellow/red in my manual again) is directly connected to the starter relais.
So those two options are the the common two of three wire ignition switches.
And it's fairly obvious how to wire them correctly, now, right?
First you need to make sure if your switch is conencting power or ground to the CDI
(looking what wire is connected to the CDI.. either 4pin plug or 2pin plug)
and then what wire is connected to the starter relais of your kart.
the starter relais must be on the momentary position of course (usually pos3)
the wire that's conencted to the CD is going to pos2 (on position connected)
and the final wire is either power or ground and is wired to pos 1 on the ignition switch
So all colours aside you can easily test what wire goes where with a multimeter in continuity mode
probing the wire in question and the starter relais, the CDI or the positive respectively negative terminal of the battery.
