Well i got a trade deal and received a riding mower and a snow blower. the mower doesnt run yet needs fuel line and battery charged, but i have a few questions about it and im curious about the extra wires under the seat that run down to the transaxel do they engage a locker of some sort? You can probably find lots of old kinda dead vertical engines cheap. They're not in as high demand as horizontals.
Let's see some pics of the whole thing!!

Those wires might he for the seat kill switch. After hundreds of people hurt and killed by tractors and riders, they demanded a kill switch under the seat, incase the driver fell off and it had to be shut off immediately.

According go Tractordata, it has a 13hp Briggs and Stratton and that's about it. The transaxle is a CruiseMatic CVT.

You said the Snowblower had the Tecumseh and not the White LT13. Regardless, that CVT transaxle wouldn't last long for a race mower, not designed to go much above stock speed anyway.

Typical 'box store' riding lawn mower of the MTD/Yard Machines variety. Never heard of White though--must be a local variation or one of countless rebrandings.

No kidding, Kartorbust. A bazillion safety interlock switches all over modern lawn mowers: 'Dead man' switch on the seat, one switch to disable starting unless brake is depressed and machine in neutral/park, one to disable starting if blades are engaged, another switch to disable mowing in reverse, etc., etc... Safety, safety, safety!

Awww, the interwebz sez all Tecumsehs are CRAP so it must be true!

A lot to be said for a big block Tec with full pressure lubrication (spin on oil filter)....

White was a spinoff from White Motor Company. I believe when White was acquired by AGCO, the lawn division of White was aquired by MTD, so it's going to share a lot of looks from other MTD products from that year.

The lastest addition to the ridiculous safety switches is the one that kills the engine if you try to back up with deck engaged. TOTALLY RIDICULOUS.

And yeah, a pressure lubed big block is nothing to be trifled with, even if it IS a Tecumseh (which it kind of doesn't look like).
