Oh that’s crazy that your in Alabama too! But yeah the rain sucks but I don’t know because the color on the frame looks janky and the welds are fudged up

I think all kart welds look like crap, but maybe it's just me.
What part of Alabama are you in, north, south, or central?

Yeah, don't quote me on this, but I think it's a comet caliper, I think you can get parts to rebuild it but it's just as cheap and easy to replace.
You just need to put a pedal return spring somewhere else in the system as the new one won't have one built in like the comet.

Yes they are cheap and plentiful....
If there is some pad left on the actuation side, itll be still fine...
The caliper need to be adjusted and greased... as you can see the disc has worn into the caliper due to some misalignment...
The slots of the caliper need some grease to help it self align to the cent of pull for the disc...
as the only adjuster is the moving side.
Might need to tweek the caliper bracket to better align the caliper after you do a complete service of the brakes...

Moving side is replaceable, the stationary requires the regluing... it can be done....
If the replacement of the caliper is easier...id say do that....

Somebody's gotta install a new disc and caliper and run it till it wears down to metal on metal. Then note the engine hours or the mileage or duration. Love to know a ballpark figure on longevity.
For me, it would take decades because I don't brake much. I use the other pedal more.

There can't be much to it. With a little age they tend to fall apart anyway. Have you read the instructions on the kit on how to do it? Real simple. If not for the fact the kit cost as much as a new caliper in some cases I would try it.

So do you suggest a brake kit? I’ll buy a new one if I can’t get pads for this one.
I also want to say I have a brake pedal and it’s connected but I need pads and from what you guys are saying I need to move the caliper

Nah, we were just rambling and thinking out loud. Get yourself a brand spanking new caliper kit.
Just don't pay too much. They're not made out of gold or anything.
EDIT: I demand pics of the entire kart/buggy/beast right now. We gotta know what this is. Quit screwing around with us, man!

It's not a Yerfdog. Imagine my disappointment.
It looks like a Murray Explorer ...minus its brush guard/tree limb deflector, aka "roll cage".
It looks good in orange, just to break up the monotonous dark green most were painted in.

I have the roll cage but it was installed all messsd up and crap screws. And I have the caliper and the plate that comes with it off the cart and tomorrow, hopefully I get some pads but I’m going to take a videos of the caliper for you guys
That's exactly what it is, a d@mn Murray Explorer. Just like mine. I thought I recognized that brake setup. I suggest you buy a new assembly and not waste your time with the comet. I found with mine I couldn't keep the lock nut on the brake lever tight. It would back off during a ride and I would have limited brakes without warning. Maybe mine was just worn out.
But actually it's really a decent riding cart. I like mine. You'll find once you get it properly set up it'll actually move on down the road. Mine will run just under 40 with a stage 1 212 governor still installed. 10tooth on the jack turning the factory sprocket and tires. But the PO didn't have the right TC on it. I went back with the factory 30 series and a 7 inch driven. That's the secret. It has plenty of pull and excellent top end.
You have the bonus of getting one with a good seat!!!
These are good karts. Look for cracks around the front spindle supports and rear frame areas. It's not unusual for these karts to crack under rough use or abuse as they are heavy beast. Mine holds the road real well and I will help any way I can.

um...let's see...I have the Murray, 3 Ken-Bar karts, and I just pulled the engine off the Klipper...thinking about selling that frame...might just give it away...then there is the chopper bike, supposedly someone wants to buy it, it's a china-frame POS...in my opinion the metal is too weak to build on.
but there you go...that's what I have...at least for now...always looking for a good deal though... oh yea, that's 5 karts and a mini-chopper
