hi there!
i need a bit of help, after seeing kartfabs "bronda" engine
i wanted to make my own, i got a Tecumseh for 10$ that had no carb on it, but i managed to get it running (pouring fuel from a bottle, like a carb)
i bought a honda carb off ebay (clone, it was 7$ shipped)
and make my own intake adapter (not very good, im thinking this is the reason)

but then i went to try to start it, nothing :censored:, it only started when i leaned it over completely. (so the carb would pour fuel in the intake)

my question is why wont it start on flat ground!!
the carbs is tilted to the right like 2 degrees but that shouldn't affect it. (im assuming)

any help would be appreciated! (kartfab, if you could get me pictures of the intake manifold you created that would be awesome!)

but heres some pictures of it.

I'm assuming that carb is used, but it sounds like a problem in the float bowl area
Instead of a Bronda it's a Teconda, or maybe a Hondseh

Too many variables...first get that carb to sit level. Make sure your adapter is air tight. Confirm that you didnt get a bunk carb, if its a chinese knockoff carb it could very well be defective. If all else is well that carb may need to be jetted.

I would reccomend a Honda gcv160/190 carb.

They can be had on ebay for less than $12 shipped (genuine honda retail is around $15.08)

The bolt spacing matches the tecumseh flange, it can be bolted directly onto the factory intake.

The bolt holes are inline instead of staggered like the GX carbs.

EDIT- Those HS50 connecting rods are not very strong, just a warning. You could make the governer work with the honda carb if your creative enough (and use the factory intake manifold)

lol the curse indeed!

Well, an engine needs four things, air fuel spark compression.

1) air? check
2) sparking? check
3) compression? check
4) fuel? not check

a) intake manifold air leaks causing lean condition?
b) improperly sized idle pilot?
c) idle mixture off?
d) idle speed screw adjusted incorrectly?
e) improperly sized main jet?
f) carb butterfly not connected to anything?
g) hold choke closed while throttle butterfly is held wide open during start

well the funny part is that it runs perfect when i lean it on its gas tank.
im guessing its jetting wrong.
the carb does work. just not on flat ground.
yea its a real curse lol

im aware that the h50 rod is not the strongest. its just a mess around motor, itll probably go on a mini bike frame when i find one.

The bowl vent on those carbs is on the flange where it bolts to the intake. Make sure the bowl vent is open, a stock insulator has a grove in it for that purpose.

ill try that. is that the single gold vent on the throttle side?
also the carb is good, i tried rejetting it but nothing. it runs good on my mini bike.

but im not giving up yet!

It’s on the face of the carb where it bolts to the insulator. It’s a small hole. It should be the only one on the engine side of the carb flange.
