Absence makes the heart grow fonder. My fans keep trying to get me to paint something... but I'm just trying to make Go Karts. Maybe he's just working on another hobby.

Almost finished the rails. I made a measurement error, and now I have to go get another piece of wood... but you get the idea.

You are a regular "Kartist":thumbsup:

Thanks! Hopefully I can finish the the tailgate tomorrow. It will open for access to the pull start. The plan is to use the factory Predator fuel tank, but cut out the wooden bed, so that the tank sits down in it. There's a little lip around the middle of the tank that will catch in the cut out. Then I'll build brackets to attach it from underneath.

Why do I get the feeling there will be a belt fed Machine gun in the bed?

I'm not happy with cq the functionality of the tailgate, but it does open and close. The original plan was to have the wood on top, open and close, but for some reason I change it to the tail opening up. It's framed, but I ran out of welding wire, this is all for today.

I decided on this clasp things, because they pull it and close it real tight.

It opens.

I tried to save the steering wheel, but that old bolt through one didn't go as smoothly as possible. I'll see if I can save it, but I may have to pull one off of another kart. And, the more I look at it, I'm not liking the bed. I think I'm going to redo the bed, into a "flat bed", rather than the big box shaped thing. This "no plan/from the hip" method of building is causing a lot of self doubt as it slowly progresses.
I ordered the axel, bearings, wheels, etc... today. I can't wait to have this thing rolling, then sold so I can do another one. :2guns:

Heck I feel like it is Christmas just looking a sweet parts pile like that. :idea2::thumbsup:

I screwed up and forgot to order a new larger main jet, and finding a set of tiny drill bits is impossible in the crap town! I just have to find a tiny drill bit, to drill out the main jet. There was a set at Harbor Freight that had (I believe) a #60 & #68 size drill bit. I've never drilled one out before, but from what I've read, I need a #63 or #64 bit in order to get a 36 or 37 main jet. Not sure what I'm going to do, other than order a set.

Well, it's been one problem after another today... My #41 chain, doesn't fit my #40 sprocket, which means I either have to buy more chain and a new clutch, or another sprocket. The sprocket would be cheaper, but I can't find a #41 sprocket (with built in hub) on BMI or OMB or tractor supply. GPS has one that it says can fit a #40/41/420.... not sure how that's possible when the three chains are different sizes... I'm already trying to fit a 41 chain on a 40 sprocket, and it doesn't fit.... not sure what I'm going to do there.
I can't get one of my tires to catch a bead on the rim... not sure what I'm gonna do there. But it did make some progress (and some regress) today. I'll post some pictures.

I got rid of the current "truck bed" thing. It was really getting on my nerves. Once I get everything else finished, I'll do the bed last. I wish I would have tack welded the axle on, then flipped it over to see how it looks. I would have moved the axel to the top of the frame. I don't really like how aggressive the slant is.

the brake is on the right side of the kart (the kart is upside down in the photo. I'm going to have to watch some YouTube videos on how to set this brake up. It's definitely a tight spot, with the short axle and gap between the round and square tube.

What's the standard method to get the caliper to stay in the mounting bracket? The guys on Cars and Camera mounted this same one, but skipped the part about securing the two together.
