One thing: do not limit your throttle!

frankly.. just don't pull it all the way open if you feel like going too fast.
In the end, if you do not fully lock the clutch (which is rather late @ around 2800rpm for some clutches and about'ish 2400 for the TC you have)
it'll burn the belt (or the clutch; resulting in a squealing behaviour as soon as it's burned out)
and well, that you had already, right
If you want to limit the speed (say for your kid to ride as well..) get some speed limiting weights for your TC (drop in replacement with nuts to stop the weights from shifting up any further than predetermined by your choice)
