Not So Mini Chopper Build

This started life as a Chinese mini chopper with what I wanna say was a 49cc motor. I traded off a doodlebug for it and decided to make it something fun. I never really see anyone do anything with these so here we go.

After having it for about a month or so I decided that It was gonna need a big motor if it was truly gonna be a chopper. What other way should I go besides the almighty Predator 420

Only issue with the 420 is that it wouldn't fit in the frame without some modification. That brings us to our current stage. I chopped and stretched it a bit to get the 420 inside the frame rails.

I also picked up a front wheel from a Kawasaki dirt bike and a front wheel from a Kawasaki Tecate 3 wheeler. I think I am going to be changing the front wheel to a Schwinn stingray front for a little easier install. Going to have to fab a rear end to fit this huge Tecate wheel for my drive wheel.

What do you fellas think?

Didn't like the idea of how I would have to fab a brake holder for the front end so I changed the wheel. Gotta find a set of sealed bearings that is gonna work out for me though.

Well I don't seem to be getting much attention lol so lets see if this changes anything..... Got a TAV for the 420, 45th rear sprocket, 205/50r10 rear tire on a Kawasaki Tecate front wheel, Schwinn chopper 20x4.25 wheel for up front. Have mock up wheels and tires on just to see how everything was lining up.

What no V-twin??

Is that a functional gas tank or is it fake like the baja heat/warrior mini bikes?

If it isn't functional, least it can be taken out and replaced with a custom one that will be functional. Agreed on the V-twin, or lack thereof. A Briggs and Stratton 479/16hp V-twin could fit nicely.

Cant afford a V twin. I got a good deal on the 420. And yes the gas tank is functional. I have to find a gas cap for it and make a rear mount. Other than that itll do nice. I cut the axle plates back off because they were a little off centered. Gonna fab another set this weekend.

Well I have made a little more headway. I ordered a TAV setup that was advertised to work with the 420 but unfortunately it wont work. Now I am kind of stuck debating whether to just go for a clutch or save my pennies and get the GPS bolt on kit for $375. Gas tank is mounted, seat perch is built, 420 is mounted, rear tire is installed and I have my Sprocket hub situated. Need to make a holder for the rear brake drum, Spacer thingymabob for the Sprocket hub, foot brake pedal or hand lever and longer cable, mount the battery and find a fuel cap for the tank. Other than that Project Baptiste is almost ready to ride.

I'd like to know more about the rear wheel setup. I'm thinking of a mini build with a wide tire like that, but i'm not sure what I'm going to do to to spin the rear. Probably gokart style axle bearings, custom wheel hub, and a sprocket hub.

Easiest is to build a live axle. You can find flanges with the right bolt pattern, to use as a hub.
My other bike(on my thread) is about the same look as this with almost the same trailer tire.
