Yup. The dreaded 0320. Most likely the crank sensor.
First rule out bad wiring check powers and grounds.
It's a pain to reach. If you can pull back the carpet on passenger side "some models" have an access panel that lets you see the sensor but I'm not what year they started putting that hole there. Other wise from the bottom with a 3 foot extension you can remove the little retainer screw in the sensor. Then from up top reach down and use your third elbow, stand upside down and hold your tongue just right, and remove sensor.

I made a lasso out of some twine to help fish the wire back up when I undid the connector.

Nothing hard, just a real tight fit if you have big arms...

I agree with this guy. Changing those always makes me want to rinse my mouth out with a pistol.

dude.... skinny arms dont help on that darn part.....
I ended up getting a wobble extension set to make about 30" long to reach the bolts....
This after spending 1.5 hours scratching the crap out of my hands and arms.....

I miss the old days when all you had to worry about was fuel, air, and a spark.
Like my old '61 Apache with a straight 6 238.
I could climb right into the engine compartment and work on it.

Electrical gremlins are the worst. But man, you make so much more power with multi-port than you can stock with a carburetor.

Have you tried asking members on a jeep forum? In my experience, members on any forum have the most experience and can usually give you an answer that's correct.

X3, but experience has me leaning toward crank sensor.
Here's one for you, my 93 Cherokee had the oxygen sensor wire get against the header causing the engine fuse to blow. That was a fun one to figure out.

It wouldn't run in my mind with a bad relay. But it could be the relay might not have a good connection and might be popping out of place.

---------- Post added at 08:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 PM ----------

See if you can swap that relay with another relay that is not important and see what that does, if you have one that's like it size wise and has the same connection. My dad and I have done this in the past for other things, mostly fan relays, but it works well

Can we assume, just for the heck of it, and generally speaking, that if the engine is running, that the crank is in there?

Wt heck do I need a crankshaft sensor for anyways?
