the front most piece of angle iron acts as a tie rod. and the cable pulls on the back of the steering spindle. i used angle iron for the spindles at first with no lower suport. so far ive upgraded to the no weld spindles with 1\2 T's and a flimsy lower control arm just to suck in the camber a little. The thing steers like a brick still because there is no caster to the front end so it a bit jumpy. halve to hold on to the steering wheel with ur life. But its not un bearable

Mind if I steal your idea Mozart? Me and my friend are going to build a kart entirely without welding, and it'll probably end up lookin like yours. True piece of genius there

it was a large shelving unit at one time dismanteled my dad found it somewhere. very flexible stuff very heavy tho.
does about 35mph and still has just enough to go up hills with a head start. id really like to make a lighter frame tho.

Hi, Top stuff.....see anything can be made without the means of $$$$.
Looking at your steering and just a thought, Some old boats came out with a push pull steering setup uterlising same sought of cable.
The sleeve that slides onto your steering shaft and can be fixed by screws gets wrapped around by the cable a few times so that each other end to your tie rod stays tight, then there would be no slack and would make steering direct.
Cheap and safe option and could possibly get from local boat yard or tip.
Love the rear snow chains....
Jason..
