Interesting build, kinda cool...
I hate to be controversial... But I see a few things that I question...
Although the quality of the picture might be to blame ... It apears that you have welded a few things to the shafts used... Why??? (That is kinda the number one thing not to do when making these types of machines, and with that being said... I hope you grounded the shaft at least, not the frame when welding. Saving the bearings for a little while longer)
Also it apears that you have welded the brake caliper bolts to the frame... For the most part typically they use a grade 8 or 10.9... You would need to preheat to prevent cracking..
Also flux core welding will also hamper proper fusion seeing how there is no surface prep grinding on your frame and all of the frame joints..
Try to answer these questions for you, only the sprockets are tack welded to the shaft, because it eliminates the possibility of slipping significantly more then set screws, this is not a kart im racing or passing down to my children... I just need to move some rocks with it this summer and fall... if after that it lives through till next year, well great.. if not, well....if he dies he dies...lol
Additionally, Yes I grounded the shaft. The brake caliber bolts are welded head side to the frame, it works perfectly and can be easily taken off to replace pads, as they are nut side out. Also I own a grinder or 2 so if don't like it, ill cut em off...lol... and there was surface prep on every weld, everything was ground bare then touched up with red oxide primer.
And long story short it works exactly as intended.

Yeah rpms = speed not torque. So taking it out is extremely unnecessary
Not exactly, your initial acceleration is dedicated partially by how many rpms you have, if i have one wheel stuck between rocks, being able to rev up a bit more may be the key to getting out.... yes when moving already RPMs allow top speed not torque...
I think a lot of guys are having trouble wrapping their heads around this project because they are use to karting in a different way...

Holy moly, there is a lot of aerospace concern for a yard mule that hauls stumps and rocks.
If it works for the OP, great. If not, he'll fix it.
OP, really nice use of what you had laying around to get purposeful work done.
Lol seriously.
