I will check into that. But yes that was another thought because its not level in the frame. But thats why I replaced the oil seal. and getting same result with the other engine that is just like a the pred engine just a electric start.

The engine isn't flat of-course, because its sitting on the baja frame. hopefully this will help a pic of the oil dripping off of the rear motor mount bolt. I hope this helps somebody because im pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. This is a BRAND NEW pred engine. I took the last one back because I thought it was a defect. I put it on once found the leak. then drained the oil and removed the oil seal and put a new one and used form-a-gasket over that. I re tightened the oil drain plugs tested it on a work bench flat, after running for 30 min no leaks. I put it back on the frame and and it started leaking before i even started the engine. Please help.

Just ride it on dirt roads. the oil will help keep the dust down. and check and add oil regularly.
Sorry I just cant figure it out either. Post a pic of the whole bike.

If your engine mounting plate is not flat or is deformed a little it could be pulling on the case and distorting it causing the leak. Please don't ask me how I know this. :mad2:

What he said. :iagree: Sit the engine on the plate and make sure it sits flat. If it doesn't, shim it with washers so that tightening the bolts doesn't put stress on the case. Do all the bolts fit through the mounting plate holes easily without tilting the motor to get them started? If not, wallow out the holes a little. You don't want anything to stress the case.

Denny I see what you are saying. So I am trying something new. The pic here are of a brand new engine straight out of the box. All I did was drain the factory oil and took the crank case cover off. I used a coat of Permatex Ultra black max oil resistance gasket maker. I put the factory gasket back on with another coat of gasket maker then put the oil cover back on. I let it sit for 34 hours to cure, with the engine on its side so not a drop of oil could get on it during its cure time. I just put a full 1/2 quart back in it. Its now sitting up right, on a level surface. I will let it sit like this for 24 hours top see the affects. After that i will slowly start raising the end up ( as if it was the same angle of the baja frame. ) I will use washer to slowly angle it up. And hopefully I will find the issue. Before when I had the engine at a angle it leaked with no pressure on anything. Just sitting on different height jack stands. So nothing was torquing on anything. and It still leaked. the factory engines never leaked. This is why I am baffled. The pics with the screw driver is to point out there the leak was coming before. Just a fyi, if this helps anybody out.

When Denny says flat, he doesn't mean level. You have to be sure that you aren't stressing the case when you tighten the bolts down. If it rocks on the mounting plate, that's a big clue as to what is wrong. You must absolutely not stress, twist or flex the case when tightening it down. I really suspect that is what is happening.

Do all bolts drop in easily without having to force one through or screw it through the hole? Do the bottoms of all four mounts sit securely and flatly on the mounting plate or does it kinda rock back and forth when sitting there before tightening anything down?

yes they are.

both engines are leaking in the same spot ?

I now understand what you are saying, And that is a good possibility. Because im running out of ideas. But I had the last engine sitting up on jack stands (So I could get a better idea of where the leak is coming from.) But so far on this one no leaks, This morning before I went to be I put a half inch spacer under the engine to slowly mimic the angle that the engine will sit. and no leaks after 10 hours. So I just put a 1 inch spacer under the switch end and I will check it when I get home in the morning and see if there is any leaks. After that I will try to install it again and keep in mind what you all have been talking about as far as twisting or kinking anything.
Thanks for the input y'all.

Dang i'm late i was going to say that the mounting plate was not flat and is separating the crank case and the cover apart enough to leak past the gasket.Either that one or the bottom of the motor its self is not even and is doing the same thing
