youre not getting far or fast with that engine. everyting looks good though

With the steering "drop arm" or whatever it's called, it looks like the tie rods are different distances from the pivot point... and as I think of this I think that having the same amount less distance at the other end of the tie rod, from the spindle (if that makes sense) would correct this... then I look at the picture and you've done that! Cool!

But that engine is WAY too small, max speed would be around 10mph if you wanted to stop the clutch frying and have some acceleration.

That 3" inlet air filter is ment for engines that breath a fair amount of air. Your air filter shouldnt realy be larger than the engine. The air filters are rated for a turbocharged 4 banger. There also not too good of a filter either.

hehe thanx so far ok so the engine is to small, should I get a 5 or 10 hp briggs and stratton engine? any ideas of what engine i should have to get up in 40 mph?

You should get a motorbike engine. Nothing comes close in performance, and you get a 5/6 speed gearbox.

search the forum for a thread about a lifan 200cc on ebay. its $300 brand new and comes with everything, but quality aint the best. or you could buy the 600cc klr engine i got :Angel_anim:

Im form Norway! that will cost me sick with money to freight to Norway. But any ways I want to know how mush you want fot the 600cc engine?

Hey, andriksen! Nice build, so far! Do you have access to the GX200 clones there? A GX200 clone with the governor adjustment maxed (4300 rpm), 12.5" dia tires (pretty typical) and a 4>1 ratio would get you to 40 mph for cheap, and it'd still do pretty well acceleration-wise. (And it's a cheap solution)
I have a kart with 16" dia tires and a 4.5>1 ratio (a bit taller than the example above), I weight 210lbs, and the kart accels fine. Not exactly a tire-burner, but still fun and quick.

nice! you might be better off with a clutch not a sprocket on the engine though. btw are you getting a new engine or keeping the old 1???

I want to get a new briggs and stratton or a honda engine. but I cant aford it.
but I shall try to obtain one, because it is a shop that has gone bankrupt in the city.
Any othe Ideas?

Okay, but first, a bunch of questions...
What diameter are you rear wheels?
What type of chain are you using?
How many teeth on that rear sprocket?

In my above post, I was referring to using a 4>1 ratio. If you run a #35 chain, usually (not always) the clutch sprocket has 12 teeth on it. To get a 4>1 ratio, you'd get a 48 tooth rear sprocket.
I can be more specific when you post your answers.

Wow....? 20 tooth on the clutch? (Sorry to sound a bit dense.) Is that the clutch you'll use on the Clone motor if that's the way you go?
If so, your ratio will be too tall at 2.7>1. Especially with 15" tires.

Generally the clutch will lock up when both the motor and the driver/sprocket reach about 2200 rpm. With your set up, that'd be 36 mph. (You'll burn the clutch up with it slipping all the way 'til 36 mph)
If you get a standard MaxTorque or Comet clutch for #35 chain, it should have a 12t sprocket on it.... which works out to 4.5>1 with that 54T sprocket on back. (perfect)

With a 4.5>1 ratio, your clutch will lock up at about 21 mph, and although that not too good for dirt and steep hills, it's great for the street and not-so-steep hills. On the plus side, you'll hit 35 mph at 3600 rpm, and hit 42 mph at 4300 rpm. Again, with my set up (slightly taller ratio) I've had NO problems.
