Tire Pressure recommendations

Hi all,
I have an old Fox gokart (1963) with slicks.
The tubes are 4.00x3.50-4.
What is the recommended air pressure for these tires?
I've had two flat tires in 3 months, tore the stem flange
loose from the tube. Thought maybe not enough pressure,
but it could be the 45 year old tubes just finally gave up!

I think they use to use the tubes with the metal stem on them. I've got some firestone tubes from the 70's that are working fine. Something is slipping inside the tire. Run them up to 30 psi at the most and see what happens. Those old tires didn't say a max psi on them. I could ask a couple vintage karters from the 60's if you would like.

Ya, I'm looking for an answer. I have decided on 30 psi until
I hear different.

My buddy said they use to run about 15psi. He wants to know if the tires are pretty old-older tires get harder and slicker on the rims with age. And with the added weight you might want to get new or good used ones. It seems like you have some healthy torque and those tires/tubes with that little extra weight can't handle it.

Well yes the tires are 45 yrs old, that's pretty old !!!
Ya, it would seem like I'd be slipping the tire on the rim with
the torque, but it has been both front tires that went flat.

DWT makes nice bead locks.....Try to spin that tire in the rim.

We dont need no stinking bead locks. Do it the backyard drag car way, self drilling self tapping sheet metal screws and a center punch.

I was just kidding Kenny. Beadlocks would be way too extreme for a backyard basher kart. Rim screws dont hold as well as beadlocks either and wouldnt it leak air threw the screw holes?

Dunno, they only need to hold air for a minute or so.
