Rod storage

Quick question. I have 7014 rods left over from welding. I am tring to figure out how I should store them correctly. It might be a while before I use them again.

Home made rod box.

Rods should be stored in a hot box, you can make one pretty easy. Built you 18"x18"x18" box with the front as the door, then get you one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...3&productId=100354511&N=10000003+90002+501093
And mount to the inside top facing down with a 75-100w bulb and plug it in. It will keep your rods warm and dry.

i had some 70 18 rods i had them out the box for 4 days and they are knackered

And make sure you keep the rods from open air and moisture. The only time you want a wet rod is in the bedroom.

The only rods that need stored in an oven are low hydrogen rods such as 7018. You don't need to keep your 7014 in a rod oven. Just get a plastic rod tube, That's all you need for those.
In fact some rods like 6010,6011 need moisture to run good. I've seen old timers dip their rod in a bucket of water before welding.

No I was referring to the fact that live in Canada. Its a well known fact down here that all Canadians are crazy, drink milk from bags, drink maple syrup from the bottle, and have some weird law that prevents you from getting mountain dew with caffeine in it.

I should know, my biology teacher is a Canadian, guy is a freakin nutcase.
