I was out pulling the boys around in the snow with sleds behind the Murray, and the Predator 212 suddenly ground to a halt with a nasty screech. And it won't pull/turn over. It's toast. :(

The thing is, it still has oil in it, and as best as i can tell more than a little. :ack2:

Good thing those motors are cheap..

But you are right Bosch, those motors are cheap. So it is not going tot set you back TOO much. 50-75 for used even. I did do some research and found the Predator 302cc seems to be a bit more reliable, even tho the Predator line is pretty reliable for its price already.

Unfortunately, this happens from time to time with all engines. A friend of mine bought a brand new Briggs Raptor years ago and it lasted about 2 days after break in. The rod broke and knocked a hole in the block. It sucks either way, but at least you're only out $100 instead of $400! :cheers2:

I would also like to know what failed, as I'm considering buying one of these as well...

It'll be a month or better before I get into it. It's single-digit temps now for the year and my shop is poorly heated.

I measured tonight, and it's too wide to go through the sliding glass door in the basement....

for whatever it's worth, I have every intention of replacing with the same predator 212.
