Here is my 2 seater project, it has no motor! For me and the kids

My questions are

What's a good motor/size to use?

Do they make manual trans for karts?

Is there a special kart carb I need to get?

Do I use a torq converter?

How would I be able to have Reverse?

What do I need to do to run lights?

I have no clue guys I don't know anything about karts. Where can I buy good parts for my kart at?

Your help is appreciated, thank you!

Get the harbor freight 212 then add a tav2 (torque converter )..... There is a ton of links already posted in the "parts supplier" links......
What is the other thing in the pic, with an engine on it? I see one tire and a part of an engine, assuming there is another kart in the mix..... ?

Now, do you want good or do you want cheap?

You can use a HF 212cc Predator or you can source a GY6 which will have a TC built in plus electric start, lighting circuits & reverse

Do they make manual trans for karts?

unfortunately, no; if you want multi gears you're looking at a motorbike or ATV engine...

Is there a special kart carb I need to get?

One will be provided with the engine

What do I need to do to run lights?

Electric start

Get a 8-9hp electric start engine and a tav2 and you will have a lot of fun. Mod the engine later on, to put out more like 12-14 hp, and have more fun.....

Yeah. A comet 30 series is rated up to 8HP, so a 30 will work just fine. It is also about half the price of a 40

I thought the 30's were good to 9hp and then the 40's take over with a range of 8 to 18hp? At least that is what I thought I read last night.....

The Comet 40's cost more but if you ever want a bigger engine for that 2 seater you'll need the 40. If you go with the 30 you will be at its max hp rating out of the box..

Im no pro by any means.. But I try to stay away from using things at their max hp rating.

And not all motors with electric start have the charging capabilities..

This is good info. If you do want to get a larger engine at some stage, get the 40 series now
