Hey Russ it seem's like it's comming along. Just incase you didnt know a ideal ratio is 6:1. I'm not so sure the low end bog/ lag will disapear. But I bet once it gets rolling she'l fly. But realy your overall top speed wont change. It's just how long it takes to get there would be less.

Hopefully, current low end lag will be minimized by doubling hp.

It's amazing how more hp cures a lot of gearing issues! I've dealt with the 1st Lowrider for years with the 3hp BS, (not so quick acceleration, but 35 mph top speed) and then throwing the larger motors (5hp BS and then the Clone) really woke that thing up- same gearing. I'm betting you'll get NO low-end bog and that airliner-taking-off feeling when the motors start to hit their sweet spot. ...and of course, how fast can one of those motors really spin?

I'm absolutely sure that area you always shoot videos in won't be big enough.! Come out to AZ- we have a few desolate 2-laners you can run WFO on!

That's the REAL question!!!
Since I got tinytach, I registered over 5200 rpm on one test run (ran out of asphalt) and haven't checked it since. By the sound of it, I'm guessing might pull between 6.5 to 7k (???). Just a guess and I might be wayyyy off.

I'll be there in about 38 hours (according to YAHOO maps).
might as well be invisible.

Lol and you say things like "Over revving on the clones causes pre-mature wear" or something like that to us. Same issue as you.

His motors are roughly the same bore/stroke as the Sachs that I have, and depending on quality of the parts, Russ could nail 8000 rpm... the piston speed isn't that bad, but the quality of the materials used come into play.
They used to rev the p_ss out of those Westbend motors... were they really better built than a Lawnboy motor? (I'm asking- I don't know!)
I haven't had a Lawnboy to disect yet, but from the pix I've seen, they seem to be a quality product.

We've got some great "don't see anyone for miles" roads close by, so safety isn't an issue. I plan on wringing out the LR v2 on one someday.

...and trusting my life to something I put together isn't!?!?

I received a free Tiny Tach and the guy that gave it to me told me that all I had to do was wrap the stiff wire around the high voltage cable and then the other goes to ground. I was wondering though, will they automatically adjust for the type of engine being used?

Kibble there is different settigns for single and dual cylinder engine's. I'd be interested to see how high the stock LB rod can be pushed. Send me one and you can be sure I'll break it. lol.

I also believe that L-B's can take more abuse than clones.

No flimsy valve-train to work loose, and a slightly shorter stroke.

If anyone has ever ridden a 2-stroke cycle/ATC, etc, they'll probably agree with me when I say they seem to have a breathing-induced "soft rev-limiter"... in that they stop making useful power after a certain rpm, (even though they could physically spin faster); so you jump up to the next gear to get into the meat of the powerband again.

Being that Russ never fully topped out with the single engine set-ups (no room to run WFO), the twin-engine set-up should be REALLY quick. I still would've loved to have seen the smaller, more common LB engine fully exploited/developed- but that's another project some other day.....
