How do i pull rear axle on hammerhead 80t

I bought a fixer upper go kart and realized my skills are a little rusty. After i replaced the clutch i realized the the rotor/gear on the back axle slides left to right upto an inch. When i removed the set screw i realized it wasnt sxrewing into the flat part of the axle.

I wanted to remove the axle and then align the rotor/gear so the set screw aligns appropriately.

Problem is i have no idea how to pull the axle.

We need photo's to see what you're trying to describe; words only give us a vague idea. The more pictures, the better. The thumbnail format that the site software supports is also the preferred format, because many of us don't have the internet connections to support many of the third party photo sites....

If there is a flat that the set screw butts up against, but its not lined up, why cant you just spin the sprocket (gear as you called it) ON the axle till it lines up? Do you have a hex shaped axle? Or the normal round type? If its round, I do not see why you cant just spin it rather pulling the whole axle out......
A simple ,effective fix, would be to just line it up where it needs to be so that its in a straight line with the cltch sprocket. Take a fine point permanent Sharpie marker and put a dot in center of screw hole. Slide it all over out of the way, dimple with a center punch, then drill (with appropriate size bit) a dimple for set screw to sit in........ NOT DEEP! just enough so the end of screwis down below surface of the axle.....

Here are 4 pictures showing my problem

1. First picture shows the clutch sprocket aligned to the axle sprocket

2. Second picture should show how much the sprocket slides to the left hitting the clutch

3. Third picture shows set screwhole in the Sprocket, Brake rotor

4. Fourth picture shows the one flat part of the axle where the set screw should thread into but currently is not.

Lastly to answer the previous question the sprocket does not spin freely with the set screw removed. It moves backward and forwards about an inch but won't let me spin it all the way to align the set screw with the flat part of the axle.

Please help.

If thats a ROUND axle, it HAS to be able to spin with the sprocket not clamped in any way. If it wont, then there is a little booger in there keeping it frim turning. Just force it ......
If not, just do as I stated in first post. It doesnt HAVE to be on the flat,as long as you can get it to lock on the axle. My axle has no flat...... set screw is just TIGHT as H€££.....
Line it up how it needs to be, and put the screw back in TIGHT AS H€££. So it will leave a mark. Pull it all over to the side and punch/n drill a dimple for it. No adverse affect to axle. ...

Wouldn't a round axle have a keyway to prevent rotation with the set screw only stopping side to side motion?
