Mods can pull this thread off if they want, but I wanted to start a thread to compile as much knowledge/experience as possible on this motor.
This is pretty-much the best out-of-the-box 2-stroke motor for our sport. The web-site is pretty informative:

...except when it comes to pricing.
Russ? Have you looked into these?

They make them in both rotations, so they'd work well for the twin engine guys.

Boy- talk about a potential design for the clone-makers to hi-jack.... Maybe someone should remind US Motors that 2-strokes are generally simpler and cheaper to manufacture? (Of course it's a "What The Market Will Bear" thing.)
So, besides old LawnBoys or snowblower motors (like your B/S 2-stroke) that's it. I wasn't too impressed with the Tecumseh 2-stroke blower motors.... remember the guy that put one on the minibike, blew it up, and then posted pix? The crank looked like it was a single counter weight, or something. Didn't look like the typical bullet-proof 2 stroke design.
I guess the gist of this thread was to start an awareness of 2-strokes that have standard shaft sizes available. (The carb position and engine mounting hurdles aren't too horrible to overcome, but the shaft thing can be deal-breaker.

I want to make a 2 stroke high powered mini bike someday.

I have GOT TO get some pics, 250cc 50s Hirth sled engine, straight pipe, big carb, old school 50s frame w/sissy bar, wheelie bar, engine barely fits in the frame, cent clutch with brake around drum, supposedly does 55 and gets there QUICK.

Been sitting in my garage since my dad put it there when he moved in way back in the 80s, he built it in the 70s.

I think I have mentioned it before, although capable of running mother will not allow it, "everybody who has ever rode that **** thing, your father included, has been seriously injured".

Forgot to mention it has lights and throttle from idle to WFO is about an 1/8th turn. Dog skull wired to the front fender.

Yeah that's true. I dont have anything outragously dangerous. Well maybe I do but my parent's trust me to do something if I say I can do it.

Mehh I'd sure be pretty pissed off but my dad's even said it "I dont care about the car as long as your safe" And a new car without engine or clutch is around $7300. I've had a few OHH %@!$ moment's in my car when I had brand new tire's and new tire's are VERY VERY VERY slippery. Just look at vid's on youtube where a guy get's in his brand new bike and just tap's the gas once and it slides like on ice.
