adjusting chain length

is it possible to adjust the chain length without one of those chain breaker tools? or is it just way to hard to do?
I bought an extra long chain and the connection links, but no breaker tool...

I haven't looked at the vid, so I might be repeating what it says. They way I shorten chain is to take my angle grinder and grind the head off the pin holding the links together. You can then knock the pin out to take off the requred length of chain you want. You can then use half links and master links to put it all back together again.

Have you watch that vid? It's called a centre punch; very popular & versatile tool; everyone should have at least one... You can even use it to make small divots in metal to make drilling more accurate

I just like to beat the crap outta the chain till it breaks in a random spot... Or i use my chain breaker that cost me 12 bucks at the farm and home store.

Only sissies need center punches. I drill holes with my eyes closed. LOL (maybe that is why my builds are so messed up)

If you have an old printer or scanner you can make a center punch out of the guide rods. If you want me to explain it I'll start a new thread in the tools section.

FWIW, I used to use the center punch method, the chain breaker is a lot easier to use.

thats my video on #2 ^ I have chain breaker tools. good high quality ones. the old hammer and punch method just seems to work better for me. less fumbling around . and the cheap breakers are just scrap metal. you can grind the pins and punch them out if you dont plan on re connecting them but its just an extra unnessesary step
