That may be a governor issue. If possible, post a video of what it's doing.

when i turn or take out trhe bolt for the gas flow it ends up doing nothing.

If you're referring to the mixture screw, it won't do anything at idle, you need to open the throttle to make a difference; the idle circuit in a carb is separate to the power circuit, changing the mixture at idle will have no effect on the idle speed.

i'm looking to learn how to fix that and i also rebuilt it the top and lower end of the carb. i would be thankful for some help.

My best advice to you is do some research on basic internal combustion engine principles; once you get that, you'll have a better idea of what does what & how to diagnose & repair a particular problem

:wai: Ditto to what TS posted. But some of those Tec carbs can be a bear to get clean, especially if you do not remove the welch plugs.

I just threw in the towel on one. After viewing the video, I realized that there were a few things I had missed. I think I am going to get a kit and try again. I don't like to get beaten by anything and if successful will give me a good carb for a little $.

I'm with him^. Don't even try to run it again if you suspect it's inhaling more crap. Filters are cheap and easy to get. Get one. $2. That's it. Stop by NAPA.

Run a longer fuel line to make space

I have the same motor.Adding fuel line might be possible but not the easiest thing to do. The fuel line runs behind the flywheel and only sticks out of the cowling about an inch or so. Much easier to remove the tank and flush everything. With a good cap and air filter and clean gas there shouldn't be any trash.

Just an option if you want more power, I have a Tecumseh Powersport 6.5HP in very good condition for $120 delivered to your door. I pulled it off a low hour Murray Kilowatt kart that I just upgraded to 9HP. I pulled the carb, fully disassembled it, gave it a deep clean in the carb dip tank, then reassembled it and drove the kart before removing it.

Make room. Always run a fuel filter. You'd be amazed how much crap there is in jerry cans and everywhere else. I have re-routed fuel lines on Tec's to make this happen. I came to a conclusion years ago- I hate cleaning carbs, better to just install a $2 filter and be done with.

:wai: No where in this post have I read anything about replacing the fuel hose or cleaning the gas tank. Also if this is a standard tec fuel tank, put a shut off valve with a strainer in the bottom of the tank, these valves look like a tee fitting and screw into the bottom of the tank.

Well, there was this-

:wai: I read that, I am referring to that in none of Monkey1990 posts did I read where he replaced the fuel line or cleaned the gas tank. You can clean the carb. multiple times, but the source of contamination has to be either from the fuel line or crud/debris in the gas tank. Of course there could be water in the fuel.

Point taken. I misunderstood you.

You can't really "check" for trash inside a tank. Particles smaller than you're going to notice, can jam up the carb faster than you can run off and buy a fuel filter... *hint*
