The minibike frame you started with appears to be the exact same "BIRD" frame I have.

I thought it must be home built, every single part of it is crooked.

Steering is done. I'm not in love with it, but it has Ackerman, so we will see how it goes. After I took this picture I added some bracing to the front end, and enjoyed some more crookedness from the frame.

I got it moving under it's own power. Still need brakes, and a chain tensioner. I had a case of too much engineitis, so I had to chop the seat off. Will need to fix that sooner or later.

Not much of the original frame left now... Any plans on how you're gonna put a seat on it & access the fuel tank?

Yea, I was thinking that as I cut off the top section that I should have just built the buggy with as much metal as I've had to put in this thing.

I'll probably have to use a funnel, but the seat will be back behind that anyway. I'll have to decide what to do once I get to that point. I'm going to have to build new footrests because that engine is too fargin huge.

Got a working chain tensioner. Hope to convince the wife to shoot a bit of video this afternoon. It's more like a barstool racer than a 4 wheeler. Maybe I will put a wheelie bar on it and call it a day.

Edit: I didn't get video, so you'll have to settle for a crappy picture of my noobish tensioner.

Took me a while, but I finally got some video. I had some minor issues, like the tensioner was on the wrong side, and it didn't help the fact that the sprocket was bent, so I had to put a new one on. However, it's finally in a state where I can reliably drive it around, so I took some video. Feel free to at my antics.

(This is far too much horsepower for this thing, and yes, I do plan to add a wheelie bar.)

WAAAAY too much torque! More front end weight needed me thinks... A massively high COG doesn't help...

**** I wish this was going to be a mini buggy. Oh well, I laughed when it kicked you off though The only thing I don't like about this is how high you sit, it reminds me of a unicycle. Besides that it looks pretty cool!

I'd have to put a couple hundred pounds to keep the front end down, those wheelies were from just blipping the throttle. I'm gonna go get a wheel today and make me a wheelie bar.

It's only 2 inches, and if I do that, I can't put gas in it. I'm going to embrace the wheelies.

What may actually happen, is I might move the rear axle back 3-4 inches.

You'd be surprised what 2 inches will do. I raised the ride height of my minibike by around 2 inches and it made it much more unstable.

It's a 10 on the clutch and a 60 on the axle. I really need to decide if I'm going to stretch it or not so I can get it polished up.

Finished for now. 23 MPH on the GPS, brakes working. There will be eternal tinkering, but it's ride-able.
