Im looking for a 500cc to 650cc road bike engine, single or twin. At the next auction there is a GS500 which looks perfect, and it's very reliable (apparently)


whoa, sounds nice. i seen sum of them on youtube. they scoot pretty fast :) anyways keep up good work :thumbsup: im going to go find out how a arms work :roflol:

edit: if anyone has a link to that or explaination let me know lol im not having much luck on google :) thanks

Looks like a serious frame. I really like what looks to be your rear drive member.

The engine of a wrecked bike is a good candidate, almost insuring it was running when it was crashed. I cound not tell if it was water cooled, but at that size, very likely. It will make the build a bit more difficult.

Not sure you will be able to get 200+HP out of that engine however. Finally, having built a 400cc Yamaha kart before, you might find you miss a clutch free off road experience. Should be fast though.

His signature says 200 horsepower per ton. It won't weigh anywhere near a ton when he's done. But mathematically, if the power of the engine was scaled up at the same rate that the weight of the buggy was scaled up to 1 ton, it would be >200 hp.

I've noticed theres a couple way's to make the front end. I personally like newrider's desihn better because all the wear points are at tie rod end's. Your use a swing arm with a c bracket and a go kart style spindle. Over time the spindle will slop out and there's more to replace.

ooh ok i see how they work now but how do the tie rods not break?

They use tie rod ends just like a real car. This is what I'm using on my kart. It enables the suspension to go up and down and the tie rod end will pivot. the first few photo's are called rod end's with stud. And the other one is just a normall rod end. This is the good kind and a are a bit pricey at $13.00 a peice.

You should get a cheap front end for the bike, and an industrial engine to throw in there. Wouldn't be fast, but it could be pretty fun.

I could do that, but I will be selling the wheels and pretty much everything off the bike to try and recoup most of the money I spent on the bike.

nice engine :thumbsup: i got my engine for my kart like 5 days ago :) its hot, keep up the good work!

Awesome, I had my eye on the setup in the past. I can't wait to see some video of the test runs. Im a welder by trade and one thing i learned is never to completly weld all the seams until you are completed with the area you are working on. Once you start welding the frame it will shrink so make sure your tacks are good and save the welding until the end.
