hey guys, it's been about a year since i last came on here.. but i just picked up a frame last night.. looks to be a Margay Bandito frame from pics i found..

i'll need to put together a shopping list of parts to build it over the summer and figured you guys could help me :lolgoku:

i'm still new to this, but it doesn't seem too hard. first i'd like to get it rolling.. spindles/axles's/bearings and wheels..

here's some pics of the frame and i'll be adding more pics when i get parts for it..

ok so i'm thinking this is what i'll need.. i'm going cheap on parts as i don't want to spend a crazy amount of money..

i'm still a newbie and i'm just gonna post the things i need help with at the moment.. i'll do some searching on here later on..

Live Axle, are the solid ones better than the tubular ones?

will also need something to lock the axle in place..

bearings.. 1"bore

then i'll need these guys for the bearings

the hubs i'm not sure about.. for the live axle, are the wheels designed to just bolt onto the ends with a keyway in them, or would i need hubs to bolt the wheels to?

Don't cheap out on things like bearings; a few extra dollars could be the difference between life & death

With a 1" axle, you won't get a hollow one; generally, hollow axles start at 30mm.

I suggest you use a 1 1/4" solid axle on this...

will also need something to lock the axle in place..

The axle is locked in place with the bearing grub screws

the hubs i'm not sure about.. for the live axle, are the wheels designed to just bolt onto the ends with a keyway in them, or would i need hubs to bolt the wheels to?

That depends on what wheels you use. Having said that, racing kart wheels are usually connected via a 3 bolt hub which have a keyway & built in locking collar

as the above post states, don't cheap out on bearings, cuz once they seize you will spend more $$ on new ones. 40mm rear axle would be my choice, and depending on budget, comet kart sales has a great selection of margay chassis parts.

hmm.. makes me wonder, the Coyote Free Roller cart i have has a hollow one with snap rings, and also has the bearing hangers with 2bolts like above.. i'll have to measure it to see if it's a 30mm but it looked a lil smaller..

gotcha.. so basically i'll need hubs for the rears because i'm def doing racing slicks with wide wheels..

for the hollow vs solid.. on the hollow, the snap ring is basically doing the same thing a nut is on the solid axles, i noticed those have threaded ends..

oh and thanks!!

also, what axle width should i get? i'd like to rund 8" wide wheels in the rear.. would 10" be overkill? not even sure if they make a 10"..

but as far as the look i'm going for, i want to have the wheels staggered and sitting low and wide

i just want it looking badass!! lol going to keep it orange or with a neon green.. i def want the frame a bright color, black accents and polished/shiny wheels..

Lot's more cheaper parts at 1 1/4 axle size. Bob4cycle.com tons of wheels bearings axles used stuff in good shape. BMIkarting.com for spindles .
