That's a big chunk. Back in the day stock car drivers switched to the 39' ford because it was only 100lbs lighter. So not bad indeed. Save all of the cut outs and viola you have a stockpile of washers. Looking good.

Well haven't gotten around to cutting more holes since the hole saw got too hot and dulled. I was drilling holes too quickly my own fault. But I did get another hole saw so back to the boring task of boring

Well I practiced welding tonight which is like the 2nd time ever welding and I have to say I like DC more than AC. Which apparently is weird since people learning usually like AC more.

DC is easier than AC because with AC the current changes direction of flow causing a stutter in the arc . DC has a constant flow in one direction ( negative to positive ) giving you a smooth arc .Current flow: DC+ is metal to rod ,DC- is rod to metal. DC+ is used for all your generl purpose welding ( because it heats the metal more giving you better penetration ) and DC- is used mostly for high speed sheet metal welding ( since it doesn't get the thin metal as hot as DC+ reducing the chance of blowing holes ).

Ok I haven't gotten any drilling done recently since I have been busy in the evenings recently but I had an idea. My idea is that since I know that rack and pinion setups are kinda pricey to use a system of two sprockets and just use the gear reducing to act like a rack and pinion. I'd be using bike parts since i have 4 old bikes that I can steal parts from and I'm looking at like a 4:1 reduction which would equal out to be 1 turn to turn the wheels completely considering it takes 1/4 turn to turn the wheels with the pitman arm setup. So tell me your opinions and feedback would be helpful. Sorry for wordy post.

This method has been done in the past on many applications with success. I know some people are skeptical of it, but I have recently seen examples in race mowers. You'll have to make sure everything is very securely fastened. Equally important, you'll have to come up with a method of tensioning the chain. Slack in the chain will equal slop in the steering. Not good.

Ok cool. I was thinking about a chain tensioner made from the old one on the bike. I figure that bike equipment is fine since this won't be under as much stress as a regular bike is under heavy pedaling.

What, that little spring-loaded derailleur deal? No way. You need something you can tighten with a bolt, and it'll stay tight.

Well ok then I was talking about using the sprockets and chain from bikes. Now that I'm thinking about it yeah that wouldn't be a great idea but what if i used the sprocket from it to make the tensioner since the sprocket is made for bike chain and it has a bearing in it.

Ok I need some help I drilled another beam yesterday minus three holes and when I went to drill the three holes today the magnet in the drill won't turn on so anyone with experience in this department would be appreciated. Also if you don't know I am using an electromagnetic Drill press

Well the magnet won't engage and therefore it won't stick or allow the drill to turn on. I think it might be a bad switch

Well then haven't updated in a while since the drill has been broken and our other drill's belt slips so can't use it. Well I have found the issue with the mag drill it is a short in the wiring and I'll get it fixed soon, so I can get back to boring.

Another update is that there is a short in the magnet itself so I'm going to just mount it solidly so then it will just be another drill press and since my father got a new 16 speed drill press I drilled the three remaining holes in the frame rail

Well whenever I get a job first thing I have to save for is a new front fender and turn signal for my truck. Since in the battle of truck vs tree the tree will usually win and this just adds to my hatred of snow.

Well got some of the kart worked on drill out more holes and welded up some steering components and suspension parts I'd put up pictures but I don't know where the camera is.

Long time since last update and some has happened I got the a-arms welded and the whole frame welded both by my brother since I am quite the shoddy welder and didn't have to patience to wait till I was better to weld them together will get pictures up as soon as I get them.
