Why wouldnt you want an MKIV? I would much rather have one of those, twin turbo 6 spd.

Agreed. A friend of mine had a twin turbo, six speed, areotop MKIV. The only one in NZ and a handful in the world. Went awesomely well.

But, hey cant go wrong with a manuel, turbo, RWD car.

Saw one of these trying to drive around in the wet today
Don't think the bloke was havering much fun trying to keep it straight

But it looked stick and it had some go

How much does it weight?
Looked like this bloke was literally getting blown off the road

I guess mine weights in around 3500 or so, they arent light.

Havent gotten too much done, been strapped for cash. Got the head resurfaced, had to take .026 off :ack2:

Painted the valve covers, and polished up all the intake parts and painted them with some clear engine enamel. going to heli-coil the exhaust stud holes today or start at least.

Only took pictures of head/valve covers. pretty much waiting on snow so i can make a little cash and get new valve seals and a gasket set.

Also have some parts on the way if the deal goes through. Trading a dirtbike for two new front fenders (one new not even painted, the other mint from an 87'), power steering setup, and a few other misc parts and some cash.

Got a whole load of new parts and some cash for my dirt bike today. Got two front fenders, one brand new primered never used and a white one thats in pretty good shape. Got the power steering parts, a strut tower brace, gasket set with valve seals, a bunch of misc trims and moldings that i needed, a new driver side mirror, and a boost controller. its a simple manual bleed off style, but im willing to give it a shot, worst comes to worst i hit fuel cut if it spikes. Going to order ARPs soon too, then i should have everything to get it back together.

EDIT: not a bleed off style boost controller. its a HBC pro rx, like $100 new and has decent reviews, people claim no boost spikes but we'll see.

Little update,

I pulled her back into the driveway, pulled off the rims, replaced some brake lines. I got the rims sand blasted and i'll paint them next week, i think i'll stick with white. I torqued the head on, and got the intake and exhaust manifolds and fuel rail on. Once it warms up again i should be able to put the turbo and intake tubing back together, and wrap up some wiring/plumping and fire her up. I did end up getting arp's and i used a fel-pro gasket, should be good since i'm not planning on boosting over 10lbs. I also replaced the valve springs when i did the head, with comp cams springs. Goal is to have it running and moving by may.

Pic of engine bay is not current, i have a lot more stuff back together. ill get a picture when it clears up.

Very nice! Is the truck yours too? I had (and very much loved) an '84 XtraCab a bunch of years ago. 4x4, 5-speed, 22R. It was my first intorduction to the wonderful world of 4wd, and what it could do both on and off road. That truck amazed me.

Yup! thats my 87, shes only got 113k miles. 22r 5 spd. bed is pretty shot but the things a beast. I have a Chevy 350, and nv4500 5 speed tranny, along with an 81' yota solid axle to swap in someday.

Ooh- a 4500? Sweet! An excellent choice. Which 1st gear ratio did you get? I dreamed of one of those! Put an NP205 behind that, and you'll have something combat-ready!

I like to see a car thread here. Cars are my true passion, just recently started getting into Go-Kart building. I've owned several carts, but never built one before. It's been a fun deviation from car building. Here's my current car-project. It's a 00' Trans Am with more time and money invested then I care to elaborate on. Bought it stock 8 years ago.

Sorry for the thread jack, I can just relate to cars a little better then go-karts.

I am new to karting as well, my passion has always been cars. Both of ur guy's cars are very sweet. There was this kid by me that had that same supra drive train in another older Toyota rwd car (gotta love those swaps!) This car looked like a huge pos but this thing was surprisingly quick. I mean, this kid hazed his street tires then dumped the clutch (assuming by the sound had to of been around 4 grand area) and yanked the front driver wheel bout 3" off the ground!!! That turbo whine was so loud and sounded awsome! I know ur supra can go like the wind with minimal bolt ons, just gotta love those turbos!
P.S. I have a 2003 VW GTI with 1.8T stage 2, my 1st turbo car and I love that turbo sound!!

I was lucky enough to find the one with "deep low" first gear, not sure on exact ratio, but its low thats for sure. Best part about it is i got it for free along with the 350!

Hardrock, that camaro looks nice, what are you pushing for boost?

Update on the supra, shes almost there! just a few more hoses and covers and i can fire it up!

Kaptain, I am obscenely jealous! It's been so long that I can't remember what the lower of the two available first-gear ratios was, but I do remember drooling all over myself when I worked out some stuff on paper back when...

Fired her up for the first time today! Runs pretty ****ty due to the 10+ vacuum lines that are routed wrong. Its a ClusterF@!$ of hoses that were disconnected when i got it, plus a few wires that are still not connected to anything, and it needs to be timed. Regardless it fired up real easy, and seems to run pretty smooth, no funny ticks or knocks. Very excited to say the least, gonna put in a solid afternoon tomorrow and hopefully square everything away.

Also, i sand blasted the rims, and got a coat of primer on them today. Just giving them a good fresh coat of white. Don't have tires yet really, someone gave me a few 255/50s (225/50s stock), but i'd still need something for the front.
