Engine Destroyer
In the kart I'm building, I've just got a horn muffler on it. Not sure why it'd cause a problem, but i dont think there would be much back pressure.
Once again- there is a major difference between the concept of "Back pressure" AKA Static Pressure, and "Cylinder Scavenging".
And once again, a 4-cycle engine does not need/want pressure in the exhaust, quite the opposite.
GAAAA!!! Hoist on me own petard!
(bunch of ocd nit-pickers...just like me, lol)
And, once again, it's not a 4 cycle engine, it's a 4 stroke engine![]()
I hate to do this But
The terms 4 stroke and 4 cycle can and have been used interchangably for ages, as have 2 stroke and 2 cycle
they (Stroke or Cycle) both mean the same thing...
Also
4 cycle/stroke has 4 strokes/cycles to the piston = intake, compression, power, exhaust.
Or
Fab- you really shouldn't have gone there...ut:

However, (& this is where it gets a bit confusing) I also understand the concept of cycle to mean an event or series of repeated events, therefore, each stroke is equal to one cycle &, therefore, 4 strokes would be equal to 4 cycles.
But wait, there's more: I mentioned that the word cycle can mean "a series of repeated events" so, in this case, the 4 strokes of an engine would technically be 1 cycle![]()

Im gonna stand by fabroman on this one. In Australia it is NEVER called a cycle, I can understand why it could be called that, but when the word stroke is already in the engine vocab, why not use it for something else aswell haha.
Whilst were on the topic....americans in general do have a tendency to change the english language for no apparent reason haha. Not a matter of individuals having bad grammar or vocab, just a different knowledge of the language as a whole......I'm going to say the cycle/stroke thing is because of this, just like the mom/mum, flavour/flavor, vehicle/vee-hickle thing![]()
Fab- You HAVE to PM me that.
As far as the rest- whaddya expect? Even your TOILETS flush bloody backwards... LOL
Okay- kidding aside- Proper north American terminology is two- and four-cycle.
