Could be the idle screw also look up videos about engine starting problems if you haven't already the valve springs shouldn't be messed up unless you messed with them before. Also the gaskets on the carb could be on wrong( backwards or upside down) try to see if the holes on the carb match up with the holes on the gasket. The gasket is a thin piece of papery material That seals the gap between the carb and the air filter and the carb and the motor.

Did you try putting a teaspoon of fuel in through the spark plug hole?

There's a point; do you have good coompression?

yes i tried putting a teaspoon of gas in the spark plug hole already and still no start...how do i check the valves?

i havent messed with the engine at all as far as i know...i might definetly need new gaskets tho they are kind of craking already but would the gaskets keep it from staring or even cranking..?

Yes it could be as I mentioned in the first post of this thread but other people said that it wasnt the valves and what do you know were back to the valves. :wai:

pull the valve cover off of it they cover were it says OHV on it then find out what specs the valves should be set at look on line for that and get a feller gauge to adjust them does it have good comprsion just by pulling it over is it kinda hard to pull or is it really easy

Are they bad is the question. its not often the valves are the culprit. Especially on a Tecumseh.Too many other things would have gone wrong first.

Unless maybe the rocker came out of place. or you broke a Valve spring. it would need some serious abuse to damage them.

Does the engine have good compression and flow out of the
exhaust?

Yeah they should be fairly night with alittle move. You will have no compression if one is loose.

the springs arent loose whats loose is one of the small bracket looking things positioned on top of the spring

Those are called rockers. You will notice, on the other end are pushrods which connect to the camshaft; that's how the valves open & close.

With the engine at top dead centre on the compression stroke, there should be a small amount of movement on both rockers; your job is to find out how much...

try googling your engine. example, Tecumseh carb, or valve cover, etc. that should give you a good idea on where stuff is and what it looks like.

ok thanks for advice on rockers...one of them seems fine with no play in it and the other seems almost loose ..how would i adjust them??
