But you got to remember how the bad guys use them as well.

Also it's not legal to kill someone for tresspassing. It is legal to kill a person if your life is in danger.

And if a person is tresspassing on my land. You can bet I will confront them as a armed man. I would not draw my weapon but it would be in my belt for sure. You should be able to carry riffle or pistol on any land that is owed by you. If you do not like it then stay off there land. Public land is different and each state and even cities has open carry laws you must follow.

Portland has open carry which I do not agree with. I would like to see concealed carry only.

I sleep with a shotgun next to my bed as well.

yeah i understand that completely its important to be armed because you don't know who they could be and what they could have. However in my situation it was not necessary to confront a 14 year old kid(at the time) on a dirt bike on his parents property because its annoying to hear the bike...Now i will say I have trespassed many times but the flaunting of the weapon was unnecessary i do understand its wrong and illegal though.

I got chills when i read that i have been approached three different times by people with weapons on trails please just use words riders respect that...what we don't respect is someone walking up to us with a bow or shotgun (both have happened to me) the guy with the bow was on my old property in North Carolina... you dont know how scary it is until you've been in that situation when you think that your last few minutes would be lying on a dirt trail alone.

ive had a guy who thought he OWENED part of MY parents property
I just moved in and he lived next to the back of my property.i was walking back there minding my own buisness and this guy just poped out of no where,i drawed my gun(and yes i know i shouldnt have a gun) and hey drawled his.i swear we stood there for like 5 minutes arguing about whos land this was.we finnaly put are wepons down and went are seprate ways. aparently my parents bought his dauters house and he thought he had the right to claim a hole acre of land because we "cheated" his daughter out of a good price .needless to say i dont like to go back there anymore.

another thing we have up here is HUNTING I know in most of the cases you guys are talking about the weapon was pointed at you but if you come across a person with a bow or hunting rifle or they have a pistol on public land and they are not pointing it at you they are probably just hunting or they are shooting for pleasure or practice and in most cases you have no reason to be the least bit affraid

the only time I have had a gun pointewd at me I was 12 or 13 and a cop drove up to me while I was shooting prary dogs wich are a nucance around here and said sombody reported me for domestic violence against my "wife" I was only 12 or 13!!!!! I did however have a full beard so I could see how he could have thought I was older than I was and when he asked my age he obviosly did not believe me the beard is actually how I got my nikname that I use

Even the conceald weapon permit is not in all states right now. Hunting riffles you can have as many as you like. If you have one felony you lose your gun rights for life. If you break this law you do hard time.

yeh thats the problem in america. Everybody has guns so you need a gun yourself. Can't take a knife to a gun fight etc. But over here(nz and australia) most people don't have guns and you're pretty unlucky to have somebody pull even a knife on you. i have the choice to own i gun. However i have to prove i am worthy of owning a gun before i can buy one. Similar to a drivers licence. A privilage as opposed to a right.
