what i'm saying is the adapter sleeve is 1/8 thick with a 1/4 key. the tc has a built in key that is 1/4 and 1/8 deep that means the tc key will be flush with the inside of the sleeve, you following this? okay so you could slide the tc and sleeve over the 3/4 shaft but the shaft would just spin and the tc would stay stationary, so that wont work, what your gonna need to do is either grind down the tc key and then grind down the 1/4 half of the stepped key then put it on the shaft, or you could grind down a standard 3/16 key and weld it to the tc key, you understand? like i said earlier you may also have problems with the length of the shaft and with the tapped bore in the shaft.

i think i get it so the keyway is not going to be deep enought to get to the keyway in the engine shaft but is not shallow enough to allow a second keyway to be put in

well cant u cut anouther keyway in the 1/4 inch spacer
so u have 2 keyways
an internal one to connect to the engine
and an external one to connect to the tc

i see what your saying good idea, but spacer is 1/8 not 1/4. any way redsox, buy a peice of about 2.5" long 1"dia 1/8 thick round tube cut out a 1/4" wide peice of the pipe then cut a 3/16 wide peice on the opposite side. the other option is to cut out on big 7/16" peice. the first option you would put the engine shafts key into the place where the 3/16 peice was then the tcs key into the place where you cut out a 1/4" peice, option 2 you would put the engine key right up against the tcs key and squeeze them both into the 7/16" slot, its your choice but both would work great

This was my other idea. It's really just two shims of metal.


The red block it the TC key, the blue is the 3/16" key that the motor came with, the green is the sleeve, and the peach is the drive shaft

exactly what i was just trying to explain (great minds think alike! lol) yep that will work perfectly!

Ok. I'll probably buy some pipe, cut it in half, and mark one side 1/8" down and grind, then just grind and text until it fits. Not fun but it'll work and save me money. I have FEET of 1/4" key as well as the 3/16" key from my motor. I'm set lol.

Wall Gator...nice picture you've got there man! ;) And yes, that's exactly what I did and it works fine. You can see my original painting with the TC on the shaft, then the refined version I made that's color coded, as WG posted.

I did it and it has held up fine too. However I would reccomend tack welding the 3/16" key in a little bit because it has damaged the inside of my driver a little.
