i would have to say unis are stronger as they are used in agriculture a

iv never seen a touque converter but why does it matter what way round the driven is
by the look of the "toothed bit" (i dont know the real name) it looks like it should work spining in any direction

Do you think that taking 3/16 off that it might weaken the cam? There isn't to much metal there.

About 1" metal. Maybe a little less. The cam is solid on the shaft and does not move. Basical a stoper. it is wedged into the snap ring. 3/16 should not effect it.

Are you talking about the yellow buggy reversed clutch? Not sure what they did. It is reversed from my stock ody. It must work in any derection. I am thinking there are two snap ring slots in the ody drivin shaft. The just reversed it. Then ran the shaft bolt out the shaft thru the frame. Simple but so smart. On the stock ody the gear box is on the brake rotor side.

Cool set up really. You do not have to mess with a-arms and swing arms. If you can make the axle's that is.

I am going to restore this ody soon. So I will have all the info then. Maybe a few more months.

I wouldn't say they are stronger because they are used in agriculture, but more because they are normally used as driveshafts. Say, take for example every truck I have worked on have universals in the driveshaft. Some of these are upwards of 700 odd horse power, with all the toque you could ever need, but I suppose the downfall is the size, and the non-constant velocity.

In saying that, CVs defiantly have there place thou.

I think in Bigheads situation, a CV joint would be better sutited, but that is one bada** little buggy. :D

Got the fenders on and the clutches all serviced and cleaned. Using straight edge and lazer to get the belt lined up right. Going to test ride tonight if all goes well.

Some pics

Got is on the ground and first test ride. Went great with even a few wheelies. I can already tell this thing is going to be nuts with no suspension. Maybe next winter I will add some. It has enough power to launch you out of control on pavment.

Almost done but we are making a big head rest slash clutch/belt guard. As it sits the clutch and belt are right at your left ear. Got to fix that for sure.

First pics of it out of the garage.

it looks really nice for painting with a brush, no lines... Might have to look into this stuff for a truck frame... and other things...

The stuff is amazing. I can beat it with a pipe wrench and it will take it. You cannot scratch it with a screw driver to bear metal. Por15 is made for frames. Works best on rusty metal. It does not like shinny new metel. It needs tooth. Also if you wanted to you could paint it on with a tooth brush and you will not see any brush marks.

Here is the CL add pics. This is what I started with. It was love at first site. After selling the extra sled parts I have about $400 into this build. About $600 if I did not sell the sleds part. Also have about $100 in sled parts to sell still.

If you shop well you can pick these old FL250 up dirt cheap. $150 is cheap for what you get with the FL250. It really is a glorified go kart.

A few tips if I was to do it again.

I would use the KIlldozer method to mount the engine and clutches. They way I did it I have to line up the clutches. Killdozer style you would not have to worry about it ever.

Also if your going to add a sled engine. I would say to build some rear suspension. I was test riding to day over some bumps. I blipped the throttle over a bump it it just shot me out about 4 feet bouncing like hell after I hit the ground. My set up has 37hp but only goes 50 max. Bottom end from all hell. Pulls the wheels up on pavment easy. Basicaly this machine is a death trap.

I will post some vids soon. But just amagine this vid. My bike is not this powerfull but you will get the idea of how crazy no suspension is. I just might add it now. It way to scary for anyone but a adult mellow rider. If Joe Crazy gets on it he will die.

At 1:14 is kind of what I did today testing. This thing launches out of the whole. 8:04 is crazy too.

In the above vid in the comments this guy talks about he spaced out the primary sled clutch the match the odyssey belt?

I would say he's clutches are working very good. So how would you think he spaced the primary? You would have to move it on the shaft right?

Yes I have seen that video before, from what it looks like he uses the stock Ody belt and spaced the Arctic Cat Primary to take a smaller belt. So he actually adjusted the primary to use a smaller belt so it would probably engage better with a narrower belt, and maybe he put a softer primary spring in the clutch so it closes easier???

To space the primary you actually put washers on the end to force it closed so it takes a smaller belt, but without the right spring/weights it will not close properly so that's why I think he may have changed those too.

Well the test ride is great. This thing rips if the lose dirt and gravel. Top speed about 50mph. A true cookie machine now.

Tonight we are making the head rest slash guard. If you notice the clutch is right at the rider ear. Not good, Ihad an old 3 wheeler or mini bike seat laying around. I took the ripped fabric off the seat and starting over. It was a foam injection seat with plywood backing all molded as one. We did some trimming and bought a yard of marine fabric for $7. Really needed for the netting was not strong enough to keep your head slamming into the gas tank mounts. Plus FL250 are bouncy as all hell.

Also mounted the sleds tool box. I pick up some spare CDI and Coil. Also a pull rope. Under the motor on that big pipe behind the tail light. That room is also a tool box and holds the spare belt. The diamond plate tail light is the door.

Also adde the rear tail lights. Here is some pics of the seat to come and the lights.
