I made my own air filter adapter from the stock air filter box on my HF Clone.
I took a hack saw and starting cutting. I was able to make a nice little adapter to hold the air filter on. The hole is not perfect round but with a clamp it holds a small filter on with no problems. Then all you need is a cheap filter with a 2" end.
Just look at your stock air filter box. You will see how easy it is to hack up. It also points your filter up and not right behind your rear tire collecting mud. This is why I made this to start with.
You will need to make a little bracket to hold your choke lever down for the stock box held it down originally. Notice the little tab coming off the starter cover? Just use a sheet metal screw and a peace of tin. (in this pic it was off to the side and not on top of the lever)
I made another tab coming off the head to hold my throttle linkage bar down. It keep comming off. Solid now.
Here some pics. Hoping this will help someone out. It's pretty simple and DIY for sure. And you already have the part.
Make sure you check your plug after this mod. In my case I went and bought a 59 drill bit. I just re drilled my stock jet. Plug came out nice and tan. Try a 58 and then 59.
The drill index kits at HF start and #60. You need to look for the cheap little bits in the plastic case. There some small one in there. Start with the smallest and test your plug each time. Make sure you run your kart wide open with a load. Kill the engine and roll to a stop. The check your plug. Idleing does not give a correct reading. If you plug is white drill it bigger untill you get a nice tan reading.
No need to buy jets.
Dremel tools also sale small drill bits.
