Not just yet. I have to do some tweeking to line up the chain on sprockets and get him some brakes. I guess they would help a little?

The sprocket looks good on there man, can't wait to see what you end up doing with the handlebars. If you end up making them from scratch make sure you measure a few times to get the correct size for the twist grip and brake lever. I've seen more than one bike built where the size metal purchased was off and people had to work much harder than needed.

Looks like the chain might hit the engine mounting plate...? The bottom of the chain circle will have the slack during forward motion.

Good eye Metal, often mini-bikes even from factory manufacturers have slots cut in the plate where the chain rides for clearance.

Correct. It only clears it by about 1/8" right now. Which I know won't be enough when in motion. We are going to cut the mounting plate thou.

Any other things I should look for? Open to all ideas or listening to past knowledge gained from experience.

Typically a chain tensioner, if you really want to use one, can be made from a skate wheel. For maximum effectiveness it needs to contain a high speed bearing. Many bikes did not ever use these, when they did it was on a jack-shaft in which the first chain had no adjustment. As long as you have an adjustable motor mount slot or adjustment to the chain in the rear wheel using slots you really have no necessity to facilitate this expense.

You may also want to make a slot in your engine plate for the oil drain plug. Looks like a messy job right now...

Or you could put an extention tube on there. See mine in the picture below. I simply put a jack under the front of the kart and lift as high as it goes while it drains. Originally my kart had an oil drain 'gulley' built into the plastic guard in the front of the engine (if you look closely at the picture, you can still see the remaining part to the right of the engine), but I had to cut it out due to the larger footprint of the EX27 motor upgrade.

What is your plan for brakes? It does not look like you planned on them so far. Remember, front brakes are 3/4 of the stopping power; so I would recommend adding them...

Also, your rear wheel spacer for chain tension is not completed yet I see. The adjuster bolt is hanging straight down.

Thanks dude. I built it for my 13 yr old son who drifts the darn thing every chance he gets. Became a competition with his girlfriends kart, and we left her in the DUST. As for me, I am the type that goes all out or nothing; so 40+ hours of work and project completed.

Keep up the good work on yours. Never give up and go for it. You're getting close that ride you've been dreaming of.

I have brakes for it but have not put them on yet.
Do you have a picture of how the adjuster bolt assembly goes? I am not sure how it goes.

Don't have a picture, but the bolt mounts to a clip horizontally. As you tighten the bolt against the clip, it moves the tire forward creating less chain tension (I see you have the slots made for the rear tire to move in). As you loosen the bolt, you gain more distance between the tire and the motor thus creating more chain tension. A nut goes on either side of the clip meaning you will need 2 per side.
