Worked on steering tonight, .750 Dia thin wall steel tube, cut some links to weld on.

Need to shorten tie rods and make a front mount.

It is level and parallel to axle.




I can change link length and mount after trying it, still have to make a steering wheel

Will clean, paint and hopefully have quick release in on Friday, to move forward

Cleaned up and powder coated, waiting on qd mount


Need to wrap this weekend with black paracord

I cut down the tierods today during lunch.

At fit up I noticed some binding



I bent the mount to allow a double shear plate.

Nice work so far.

Your arm on the steering wheel shaft side looks mighty long. That makes for little hand input that makes a lot of wheel movement. Twitchy steering.

Yup! 1/2 turn lock to lock....it's way to easy to fold these wheels, so you drive ahead of your sight and no sharp turns


Edited....there also isn't a lot of room in these to be cranking a wheel, kind of like your car, at speeds you don't need alot of steering input.

So came home to new parts for steering



Even though I checked the spec of **** tons of these quick releases for the steering wheel, still they were all made wrong in same factory in china

You put the holes in the wrong places?

Yes...but.......Not technically, product said 1-1/2 bolt circle, it was actually a 1-3/4 bolt pattern.

Heading up the hollar to the shop....tonight I'll feed the pups and probably spend all night working on stuff...pictures to follow....got a few days to do stuff with no wifey....

Cleaned up and moved welder inside, still need to get 240v tomorrow.

Made some steering support brackets, and doubler plates for tierods

Been atleast 10 years since I've used a tig welder, definitely need more practice so I figured "fusing with some filler" would be a good start.



Need to rig up a table for sure...hope to bend and hammer weld the rest of the cowl tonight after farm work
