Just wanted to intro. myself Ive been building motorized bicycles the past couple years 2.5 hp and under, and I am moving up to bigger motorized toys. I joined this forum to learn and maybe share some info. The old lady got Me a NOS Briggs Flathead model 132436-0229 that I will be putting on a 1949 Simplex Servi-Cycle. Here are a few of the bikes Ive built.

2010 Schwinn DelMar

1953 Schwinn Spitfire

1950 Schwinn Panther

Welcome to DIYGK, you did a nice job incorporating those engines into the bikes. Looks like they were designed to be there.

Welcome!

An old retiree from the plant I work at told me the greatest story about him and his brother building one of these using 1/4 hp washing machine motor when he was a kid. Had no money for a belt so he pieced one together from a larger belt off a farm machine. When the belt broke and rapped around the wheel at (he said) 30mph he got the worst whoppin' of his life. When he finally got it stopped he jusdt laid it over in the bar ditch and cried.

But he saved up and got a proper belt and it lasted him through high school. By the time he moved away, it was the envy of the neighborhood. He gave it to akid who desperately wanted it.

at his 50 year class reunion, preople were still asking him what ever happened to that bike.

You had to hear him tell it.
