If then was now, we'd all be shacked up with a "Bubba" for the rest of our lives. :D

Pops had a Cannon , so he always had fuse and black powder laying around .... That and some 3/4" iron pipe made some noise . Things started happening in the neighborhood . One day I went to get some and it was gone.. His little way of saying that's enuff fun for you. Before you get us both in trouble. He had a water purification system . He wanted to keep in action.

jumping off roofs, 2 story roofs.
motorcycle in the dark on dirt roads. i have scars for that one.
homemade pipe bombs. i was amazed at 18 i could get gun power and fuse from a store! edit : hmm that cant be right because i used that fuse for my cannon. must of been 16.

homemade cannon (welded one end of a pipe up in welding class, freshman year) Darwin thing was i taped two of them to a poll and packed with nickles. first fuse fired and ripped both of them off. second fired and i got nickle in my arm. small pieces. i think i'm okay.

riding a motorcycle in standing position. like on the seat standing. we all did that right. i had a helmet then.

jumping off 40 foot cliff into 5 feet of river water. good times. i need to find that picture!

and this was in the 90's! but i grew up in mountains. Mountain people are still crazy today.

I found where the old man kept his stash for ducks.
I found a piece of 1' pipe that was a perfect fit and cap that fit it.
I drilled a hole in the pipe close to the cap. I used a nail to punch a hole into the critical area, and inserted a fast burning thingy.

Of course this couldn't be held, it had to be propped against something solid.

The list of items removed from the face of the earth with it are too long to list.

My folks found it when doing a bedroom shakedown. To this day they'll swear that I was sleeping with a pipe bomb under my bed. I never had what was needed to tell them what it really was. :D

Mom , was good at the bedroom shakedowns , she found a rather large stash of some herbals one day.. she simply asked my to stay away from the clove cigerattes . In the early 80s kids were dying from smoking ham flavering spices.

This is a code I'm not aware of.

My Mom wasn't so good at the shakedowns. I'm sure she got wiser as my younger sibs grew up.

I once took an epic greyhound ride from MPLS to Tyler TX and back to visit a friend.
I took a handful of red dirt in a baggie back with me as a souvenir.
One particular shakedown, she threw it out. She thought it was dope!

When I was 7 or 8, I got ahold of a horizontal shaft Briggs somehow. I was trying to build my own minibike. I had a drive wheel , but couldn't afford a clutch. Yard work for 8 yr. olds doesn't pay much, so I just got a sprocket.

It is too complicated to explain, but I made a pivoting wooden attachment and connected it to the back of a Radio Flyer. I put a rubber band on the carb...( which held it to wide open throttle)...then connected a string to pull the throttle closed.

Squirrelly as all get- out, and no brakes. What could go wrong?

Actually, nothing did! AMAZING!

Also, since I never grew up, does taking a 5' Texas ratsnake for a ride loose in the car qualify?

It's amazing were still alive. I got my hands on the lower part of a shopping cart. And would take it down really step hills ... Of course it had no steering or brakes. I don't know about a loose snake. I'd tie him around the tow ball or something ... Duct taped to a broom handle comes to mind . And would also make a great weapon if you let it's head protrude past the stick a little.... Honey where are my welding gloves... :roflol:

The throttle cable broke on our go kart and we bread tied the throttle open not realizing how a governer worked. I was all to on board with being the test pilot so my brothers and I set the back up on an old concrete block, I got it, and when it fired up they kicked it off the block. My next older brother was riding with me and we took quite a ride down the old railroad bed (tracks had been gone for years) and ended up going off about a 30 foot high hill and into a pond to avoid a barbed wire fence.
Sumac bushes will whip the living fire out of you when you go through them on a go kart at about 30.

Sledding down a hill and out onto frozen river, big 180 and hope to make it to bank before ice broke. River 100 yards across & 20 feet deep.
Hearing the ice fracture "ping ping" and seeing cracks radiating out from sled runners.
A wonder more boys ain't pushin up daisies... old dog, who survived the 50'60's AND Viet-Nam...I'd do it again--I never learn

Of course it had no steering I don't know about a loose snake. . :roflol:

Well, it happened last year. About the fourth short trip to little neighborhood stores. She had behaved very well before, and she was a big hit with the folks.

The last time, I had gotten her to kinda hang off the rearview mirror. I was trying to get her to do that. Instead, she suddenly developed a fascination with the steering wheel. She was winding herself in it while hanging from the rearview.

My attention was focused on unraveling her, and I looked up a half second too late to stop before rear ending a parked car.

Shooting a heavy duty UNMOUNTED tire with a .22. The ricochet makes a strange sound as it buzzes past 1/2" away from your right ear!
