As many of you know, I had to undergo major surgery back in March. So finally being able to get back to work this week was great..... But that also lead to me to being dragged into a disiplin case against a new hire.....Basically, I just walked the ~ 70 yards/65m from my work space to the break room; didn't set any speed records, but that's fine too. (I turn 47 tomorrow}. Just as I get to the door, someone young enough to be my grandchild comes roaring up on a forklift, laying on the horn. He then proceeds to park said forklift so close to the door that only he can go through it. His workspace is closer to the break room than mine......
He then walked ~15' to the vending machine to purchase a high end expensive energy drink????????
HE THEN CAME BACK AND GROUSED AT ME BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR THE KEY TO THE FORKLIFT BECAUSE HE HAD VIOLATED COMPANY POLICY!!!!!!
1) To drive a forklift in our shop, you need a State Licence.
2) To get that licence in our shop, you need to have served your time as a temp and been fully hired (90 days). Then taken and passed the (really) basic test.
3) The company will acknowledge (that you have one) said licence only after you have been fully hired. Any others don't apply.....
Extremely long story short, I found out that I was part of a sting op. The person in question was already in deep doo doo....... The fact that I'm still going WTF?????? doesn't change that.....
