Yerfdog spiderbox

I just recently purchased a yerf dog spiderbox and while driving it all the sudden rear wheels locked up. Chain and sprockets are good.What would be locking up the wheels? Any advice on what to check next? Thanks in advance.

Take your foot off the brake!

Check all bearings and belts and clutches.

Haha foot is definitely off the brake...belts all look fine...when I opened up the motor there was some metal shavings on the inside of the case...but nothing was broken or worn

Well metal shavings aren’t good at all. The shavings were where exactly? What kind of engine is it? Is the engine free or seized up? You can post photos directly to the site so that would help immensely, as they‘re worth 1,000 words.

I trust Denny’s nose, it smells a lot like burnt bearings.

Looked at bearing and took chain off wheels move just fine when chain is off. As soon as I put the chain on its all locked up. Is the clutch suppose to move freely when it's off? Engine is free it turns on just fine.

Yes it should be freely moving with the chain off. The clutch only locks up (both inner and outer parts) when it's at the correct RPM since it operates on centrifugal action. Sounds like you roasted it. Normally they can last a really, really long time but you have to be smarter than the average bear...

Here's some photos...the inside is worn down and grinded so.im guessing thats where thr shavings came from. It also looks like the clutch isn't straight.

The clutch bearings are broken one was shredded...where can I get new ones?

Gates have always been good belts. I would try one.

Those machines shipped with a GY6 engine. These should be the clutch pieces needed. Not 100% sure though.

The 'driven' clutch is off center/off kilter in your first photo, and impacted the case (metal on metal), and that is apparently the source of the metal shavings. Not sure how severe it really is, but a crooked clutch might mean the shaft upon which it rotates is also crooked. Be interesting to see what is broken. Verify your machine with those manuals, verify the parts numbers and order what you need.

The gear oil is 80W-90 but it's too late for that....
