71 Rupp roadster 2 I found in the trash at 12 years old. That's what got me into small engines. My dad had a small engine repair book and all I had to do was rebuild the carb. Rode that till I got a Yamaha Special 50cc motorcycle 5 speed manual at 15 years old. Memories..........

A Zundapp 125. 4 speed trany. Had to mix the oil with the gas right in the tank. Probably had 4 or 5 hp. 15 years old, no license. Road the cr@p out of that thing.

Wow, that sounds exotic. Got pics? I know, I’m too lazy to Gargle Search but you can always find one that looked like yours better than I can guess.

You can start a build thread in the main Go Kart forum or in Projects and post lots of pics. Kart refurbs rarely turn out the same, with personal mods or non-standard repairs and all and even if it’s “just another Yerf Dog” it can benefit others.
It was registered as a moped from the guy I bought it from for $250. It was near mint. I'd be cruising down a main 4 lane road and cops would look at me weird but never pulled me over. Moped plate and I could hit 60mph easy.

Exotic, no. Pictures! Are you kidding. This was in 1963. Zundapp was a fairly common German built bike. Never saw one larger than a 250. Mine was used ( of course ). I think it was a 1954 or 1955 year model. As I remember, all were 2 strokes. From some of the things I've seen you post, you are at least 100 times better than me at researching and finding old pictures. But I will give it a go.

Wow! More than I ever knew. The 4th picture down, the 1952 DB202 in profile resembles what I had. Mine was a 125 single with a long 2 rider seat. Rear shocks, tank, and overall size very similar. Giving a shout out to Hellion. Some of them almost do look exotic. Especially for their time. Never saw anything but small cc two strokes running around Southern California 60+ years ago. Thanks WTR for posting.

I only know Zundapp as a rare obscure German motorcycle. Had zero idea there were any stateside. I know for a passenger, sometimes there was an optional “pillion” seat for this style of motorcycle that installed right over the rear fender. I’m guessing that wasn’t yours Pancho.

. A friend had a Special sort of rotting away on its kickstand out in the yard, pity I never asked about it because the styling is so wonderful. Classic Japanese Motorcycle but with that sort of “up” posture.

Hack, as I remember, Greeves dirt bikes had a very similar front end suspension. I think that was pretty advanced suspension technology 60??? years ago. Guessing at the time line. I think I was still a teenager when the Greeves were popular. Do you know what year the DKW pictured is?
