Hey guys. New here and looking for some help. I just picked up an old 3203. It was in sad shape but I’m brining it back to life. The wheels were seized to the axle, along with every other component. I cut it in half and am starting fresh. So my question...per BMI’s advice I purchased a 40” axle which is keyed the entire way. It has no snap ring grooves to locate anything, unlike the stock Yerfdog axle. Here is the plan and please let me know if it will work or I need a different idea...
Center axle. Place a locking collar behind each wheel with a washer to locate the wheels. Place a locking collar on either side of the brake drum to secure it. Sprocket has 2 set screws in one side, so place 1 locking collar in other side. Place locking collar on each side of the RR bearing, and one locking collar on LR.
Will this work out fine? The wheels, drum and flywheel will also have the 1/4” key in them obviously.
2nd question...the predator 212...does it bolt up exactly like the tecumseh or does the engine mounting plate and jackshaft plate have to be modified. Does the standard comet clone torque converter bolt up like normal or is something else needed? I have the old tecumseh and original comet, but I also have a brand new 212 sitting around. Cheaper to use the 212 than to fix the tecumseh.
Thanks a lot!!
