Rear Pivot pt2

The Original Yerf Dog pivot is 2 C brackets and a bolt. Even at best
very sloppy.

My first idea was to use short pins on ether side, but then
I realized with self aligning barrings the kart would "droop" to
the end of the outer race. This would no doubt snap the casting.

So, Solid bar is the only choice unless I weld the pins directly to
the rear end. I may go that way when I install the big block because
I will need that middle area for the jack-shaft.

What about cutting the shaft down to 2 - 6" pieces. Cut a groove on each side and use a c-clip. It would be less weight. Anyway, it looks like a HUGE improvement.

That was my original thought. look at Pic #2 in my Rear Pivot pt2 Post
But being self aligning barrings it would "Droop" for lack of a better term. Picture the rear end dropping and the kart raising. The self alignment would angle the pins " \ / " and break the casting.
I know 1" is overkill, but I am glad i did due to the 24" span.
"0" flex.

Question about the 40 Series Comet Driven

Clearly the installation shows the Driven running inboard.
Can it be ran outboard?
I need the clearance for the chain.
Also, started my jig to set the CD on my home made Jack Shaft.

Progress is slow

I only have a few hours each night to work on this, I have decided to
make the motor plate for the 460cc removable. It just bolts into the mount for the 6hp. And allows the original adjustment for the chain.

I've seen some yerf dog karts that where the brake is at (on the left side) the tube usually starts to bend what do you suggest is best. To build a new heavy dutty frame or to somehow reinforce it?

On my built gx390 the cheap filters cause my carb to overflow. I switched out to a real k&n filter and it resolved most of the issues. Still overflows when it gets dirty.

It helped, the cap on the tank I savaged from a ATV, the cap was from a gas can...Not oem for the tank and was causing vapor lock. The return didn't work (closed system) and I am sure, run long enough it would have starved the carb. Talked to a Tech at Vegas carts about rope starting this motor and what a pain in the @$^ it was (Great customer service BTW) and he reminded me that all tanks must be vented. ALL TANKS. Got a Coleman starter and starter nut from ARC Racing. I will never pull start a Big Block again, Just say "NO" to rope. My hand still hurts from the kickback pulling the rope out of my hand......

(OMG) I said in my introduce yourself video 3x would be "Sick".....this is 4x "Insane Power"
One step above sick....

I have a few items on my punch list before I make a "Drive video" But I will give a spoiler, I might need wheelie bars :cheers2:

nice setup but i think you are going to be disappointed on how the comet 40 works for you. With the comet 40 i can feel the belt slip every time i floor it. Running it on the drag strip when i have it setup to a 3k stall i burn threw a belt every 5 runs down the track.

Do you run your Driven inboard or out?
I may have to go bigger if I do...so be it.
I made the upgrade so I can go back to the 212 if I wish. (All bolt on) And I can always use a 40 on something. This motor is not staying on this kart forever, I was just dying to feel the pull of 27hp. Most all my runs will be dirt so its hard to tell wheel/belt slip. I will keep a eye on wear, that would be the tattle tell.
