I want to use the original throttle rod if I can on this yerf dog 30032. I was gonna drill the hole out a little bigger on this hanger so I can hang that throttle cable off of it with nuts on both sides. I'm not sure what would be the best way to attach the cable to the side of the rod like that. I know it's better to have it at the end, but I gotta have the spring for tension. Does anyone think it wont work being attached to the side of the rod? I know a collar clamp will hold it, but eventually the strands of the cable will probably get worn out. Any advice on how to attach this or pics are much appreciated. It's hard to tell from the owners manual picture how they attached the oem one.

It'll work, it's been done before.

I think Murray also used a combination cable/rod throttle setup and the cable attached to the rod in the middle of it somewhere. Just for reference purposes, check out this illustration (parts #38 and #106). Looks like the flexible cable portion has a Z bend fitting cast onto one end and it interfaces with a hole on the rod (I think the rod is flattened at that spot to so a hole can be bored in it)....

I would tap the bracket to the same size thread as the cable housing (just to be fancy) but you have the right idea securing it with two nuts.

Phooey, forget all that.
Yerf Dog 30032 manual shows a throttle cable with an eyelet on one end:
#35 04265 CABLE, 40” THROTTLE

You'll need the locking collar for the rod (hardware store item):
#41 H91480W COLLAR, 7/16 BORE X 7/8 O.D. ...and the cable eyelet will interface with the collar with a long screw.

Should look like this:

Looks like the screw they used on the collar is long enough to secure the eyelet as well as secure itself to the rod:
#68 H32505W SCREW, 1⁄4-20 X 1⁄2” SELF-TAP HEX

Does that all make sense? I can visualize it.... 😵
