Hey guys. I picked this yerf dog up the other day for cheap and I'm really wanting to fix it up. This is my 3rd kart now but my 1st yerf dog. Was curious what kind of motor goes on this. First one I've seen with the drive sprocket on the passenger side. No engine mount plate or anything. I can get some more pics in the morning. Thanks in advance for the help!

There aren't any mounting plates for a jackshaft or an engine. I could fab one up and make it work no problem, but I wanted to try and do this as close to how it came off the line as possible.

I've seen these on the yerf dogs, but the frame on mine is different than you see in this setup. Sorry but I'm still pretty new to this lol

I'd take the same stance as the Post Office on this, if it fits it ships. 420cc and a series 40 torque converter would be what I'd shoot for.

I think that is what I will do. I always like to put things back factory if possible, but nobody seems to be able to tell me what was on here originally lol. Ive wanted to try the 420 out, but have yet to pick one up. I will probably throw a 212 on there and then see if I like how it rides, and if I do then 420 it is :)

So It probably had an "engine plate with a jackshaft" Set up to mount a Torque converter. Hence the sprocket on the Right.
I believe I heard this mount is available at Gopowersports.com
That would give you the closest to production line.

Dont take my word for it though! LOL

:wai: That's a great help! That is the first picture I have found of my kart anywhere on the web, and he knew the model number which will make this much easier to find the info on it. I thought It might be a gy6 that went on it just because of the sprocket being opposite of my motor. Bmikarts has one right now for 100 bucks I could throw on it. Its untested but anything is fixable. Thanks a ton man. Was the breakthrough I needed :lolgoku:

So did you find a model number on the cart? I thought the spider box was the only yerf to get a gy6. My yerf came with a 6.5 tecumseh and a torque converter, but the rear is nowhere near the same as yours.

this is a model 40000 its called the little fox and it has a 90cc engine on it from the factory, although I cant find anything about the motor anywhere. I haven't looked into the engine much more as I have decided to put a 420 on there.

I can tell you, I was torn when I did my kart. A 212 would bolt up, use the factory clutch, etc, I was concerned it wouldn't be fun enough though. But a 420 was going to be over 400 bucks to get on and running. So I did the 212.

I wish I'd done the 420.

I also have one of these Yerf Dog "Little Fox" 40000 karts. It came to me already converted with a Briggs 4-stroke, a 30-series clutch, and fitted with a left-side (60-tooth?) sprocket. The engine was junk so I'm swapping in a Predator engine. BMIkarts.com bought all the remaining OEM stock from the company who bought Yerf-Dog. Go have a look there. You won't find original engines or lots of other parts, but they do appear to be as knowledgeable as anyone else I've found about these karts.

They have all/most of the owners manuals for free download, but not an illustrated parts list (which is what I need). Please pass along any other resources you may have found!

can you post some pics of how they had converted it? I haven't started on this cart as I have been busy with other projects around the house lately. @jollykarter as far as I know that is what it appeared to be. Just a small version of the 150cc with a tc best I can tell
