Yerf Dog 3202 rebuild (Need some help and advice)

I just picked up the 3202 yerf dog that needs a decent bit of refreshing.
My first question is do I need to use a torque converter or can I just use a centrifugal clutch off the engine shaft to do a direct drive?

Also, is it worth it to switch from band brakes to disc brakes?

There's a few factors in play here; tyre height & axle sprocket size for starters...

Lets say you have 17" tyres; you'll need gearing around 8:1 to avoid destroying a cent clutch in the first few minutes of driving...

If you already have a TC, clean it up & use it, you'll be much better off

Well, disc brakes are meant to be more efficient, especially hydraulic but, there is such a thing as being too efficient; for instance, my duaghters kart has a Kawasaki GPX 250 rear disc brake on it & it's geared at around 12:1 off a 3hp engine; if you do more than just touch the pedal, it'll lock up...

The other thing to consider is the difficulty of setting up such a system; I can tell you from experience, it takes a bit of messing around to get it right...

Post some pics of the kart, engine, drivetrain etc so we can help with the clutch and gearing issue. Also give us tooth counts on axle and clutch sprockets

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get an email like it said I would.
I'll take pics of it all tomorrow because it's too dark now.
I don't have a torque converter at all for it, which is the main reason I was asking.

And ok, I'll just stick with the band brake for now then.
