Hello All! Starting this thread to post pictures and progress of my Nerf-Dog 3200.

I have replaced/repaired/retrofitted/upgraded a lot of components on this kart so far. I will get some more photos this weekend of all the things I have done.

Stay tuned!

Yeah, overall it was nice. I was disappointed in the build quality though. No bushings, metal on metal, very loose pivot joints, etc. I haven't modified anything as far as cutting and welding goes. I just want to bring it up to the level it should have been when leaving the factory.

I don’t know about Yerf-Dog pricing when new, but they don’t seem as well built as say a Streaker. I’ve never driven a ‘dog but watching driving videos they make lots of squeaks and rattles. As stated by ‘dog owners, not jumpers. They really aren’t built like a SXS, but they don’t bring five figures either.

Exactly. The damn thing squeaks and squawks and rubs all over. I am slowly adding bushings, washers, larger bolts, etc to tighten everything up, add wearing surfaces and quieten it down a little.

I’ve heard the steering has tons of play, is that true? I know one member here kept bending tie rods on his. I really want my kart to handle more like a racing car with tight steering then like my lawnmower. Course it is harder to keep tight steering with suspension, but that’s lots of play. I also saw the C&C video of them modding for more angle, you had problems with turn radius?
1000th message, how ‘bout that.

It does have a good bit of play, which I am slowly taking out of it one washer/bushing at a time. I definitely wanted it to handle better and immediately started working on it as soon as I had time. My turning radius isn't bad, all things considered. Especially once you remember that there isn't any weight in the front end. Almost like trying to make quick turns with a Snapper mower, except you can actually spin the rear end around on the YD a little when needed.

I am taking it to Busco Beach this weekend for Mini Mayhem. Are you going to be there or have you ever heard about it?

I’ve heard about and I’d love to go, but I won’t be able to make. Might take me a few years before I can get out there, just not ready for that right now. Only a few hours from me though. :wai:
Have fun, it looks like a blast. Maybe I’ll have something more off road ready then.

@BaconBitRacing It did well! Lowered the tire pressure a good bit to make my life a little easier. The rear "shocks" don't do squat, so when I replace them I am going to alter the geometry of the mounting in the back so they can actuate a little easier. Also replacing the rear pivot points with heavy duty, greasable barrel hinges.

Well that's just amazing! It's nice to hear the 'Dog survived the hard drive. You get to meet any of the C&C crew?

It definitely survived, I ripped it around the property at home the other day for about 45 min. Climbed some hills and ran around through the woods and the pasture. The mad dash to get it ready is over, of course, but I am still planning on making those upgrades to it, and just making it better overall. A racing style seat, seat pad and harness are on the list as well.

I did get the pleasure of meeting Ike for about 20 minutes. My friend and I stood and talked to him near the end before we left and he is very nice to talk to. I met Charles briefly but he was just getting there at the time and I didn't want to bother him.
