This is my first post, so hello. Anyways, I picked up a running yerf dog project. The person almost had it working with the 212 predator, I will be finishing the project and letting my kids drive it until they get bored. However I've noticed, before searching, the steering is dangerous. After searching I've found the 3020 was recalled for the very issue. On this forum I see references to a "fix," but I can not find the post anywhere, seems to have been lost long ago. Anyways, wondering if anyone has advice to make the steering a little safer before I send the kids rolling down the road, literally.

Not familiar with the known recall problem, but it can't change the basics of solid steering geometry and rigidity. Lots of us here can help if you can post pictures of the problem area, and/or a definitive explanation of what you noticed was dangerous. Certain basics in a description would be helpful, like is it a rack and pinion steering system, or just a pitman arm on the steering shaft. Is there looseness and play in the steering, or any point of lockup in it (jams in a full turn), that sort of thing.

Yes indeed, it's very clear in the good overhead view. On the positive side, the steering appears to have Ackermann angle applied to it, so scuffing and pushing (up to a point) are dissipated. On the negative side, looks like the tierods are hitting the inside of the tires.
If it was mine, I'd take the quick and easy way out. I'd weld on a couple of pieces of metal to the bottom end of the steering shaft that would strike the floorpan (stopping oversteer) before the wheels could turn quite that far. Rough hillbilly method, but I did attend high school in Tallahassee, Florida. Forgive me.
