I finally got my yerf dog 3020 running great and new front wheels.

But when going up a small dirt hill it will slow down than stop and just revs.. Pretty much the torqconverter slips and you can smell little burning rubber.

On flat roads and dirt roads its fine and goes pretty well and will go up normal street hills fine.

The belt looks good but it seems little loose same as the chain. But im not sure if its suppose to be like that???

But i would think with a torqconveter it would make it up average size hills.

Is there a adjustment i need to do?

thanks:)

Well your torque converter belt needs to fairly loose (as long as it doesnt slip off without you touching it). And i have the same kart with a torque converter and my chain has about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch slack and mine goes up steep hills with ease even on dirt.

Hmm, Whats your spring tension set on for the torque converter?

I just looked at mine and the spring is set on the high position.

Yea the belt doesn't slip off at all.

I tool some pics of my torq conveter setting.

See were it says high at and the hole by it? that's were my spring is set at.

Im not sure if that means it set in for high gear and maybe that's why it doesn't like going up hills? Or it means high torq and low torq.

Im not sure haven't check that yet. But the cart is all stock from factory i know that.

I don't think that would be the problem sense dreazoian said his goes up steep hills with no problems.

I posted a few pics for the setting my spring is set at which i got the cart that way. Is the high setting for mostly street and leveled surfaces? Or is it the other way around?

It just seems like it doesn't have much low end because it doesn't want to spin the tires in grass or dirt even. It has good top end tho.

Just like mine. I have a 45t axle sprocket and a 10t driver sprocket so my acceleration wasn't too good but I topped out at like 40. But then I got a predator and it improved the acceleration but still my tires don't spin in neither dirt nor grass. What's your gearing ratio and hou have 18 inch rear tires correct?

If yours 45t and 10t driver sprocket is stock than mine is that to. Yep and the stock 18inch tires.

Is your spring tension set as in the pics like mine? on the hole that says high?

Yea just checked my sprockets and they are 45t and 10t to. So i guess that would be stock?

From what i know its stock. from searching the go kart model up its a 30 Series Comet Torque Converter which came stock.

But yea it got me confused because usely the spring adjustments usely have 1 2 3 and 1 is for street and 3 is for hills. And all mine says is low and high..

Yours is the yellow gokart with the number 3 on the sides right? no shocks?

I was thinking that to but by looking at it , It looks good and all the rubber teeth looks good to and not worn down.

But i just ordered a new one about a hour ago and should have it by sat, So will know than.

Maybe its dry rotted and not griping as it should, Cause it did sit for a good bit sense i got it which is like 2 years ago, And not sure if it has ever been replaced by the owner before me.

Will post pics of the belt later today maybe i just don't know what a worn out belt looks like lol

I just wish i knew which spring setting is better for hills high or low dots.

Well mine was black and yea no shocks, 3 on the side. you can go look at it in my gallery. And ive never really taken a look at the numbers or anything for the spring. but mine is the 30 series too.

you have a max-torque tc. so need belt MXT-97. i have the same kart. and gearing and tires. it has awesome top and it'll get me up some good hills. might be a worn weight pack i the driver on the TC. it could have also worn down the wear buttons and jumped forward position on that. i had that happen. but yeah clean the driver. inspect the driven and get a new belt.

Sorry i didn't get back sooner had some stuff going on, But i took the torq converter apart and cleaned it and also put the spring in were it says low slot,It was a pain fighting that spring to get it back on But finally got it.

And when i got it back on it seems like it was to loose so pretty much i gave up on it for like 2 weeks lol

But yesterday i started it up and hold it and give it some gas and it had good power and also did a burn out with both tires while holding it back which it has never did this before.

So i took it around the block and it ran pretty good than i took it up a steep street hill which i always had to get a a fast rolling start to get up it, And it made it right up with ease.

Will test it on dirt hills soon again, But first i need to fix this steering problem, Pretty much its all over the road and its very hard to keep it straight, Like i had to fight it.

Now this wasn't doing this with the cheap dulie 4inch rims i had on it because the bearings died in the stock rims,But one time i did wreck in a fence and bent one of the rods, so i bent it back the best i can and it was fine.

But it seems like going back to the stock 145/70 6 tires its all over the road..

I was wondering do they sell those rods or will a hardware store or some buddy if i bring one in would they have one to match it?

Seems like after i get one problem fix on this kart another one starts lol

Its like our go karts are identical! Mine goes up hills with ease and it has a good top end, but i just cant seem to figure out how to fix the steering on this thing! One bump and BOOM! Throws my steering all over the place. Not sure as how to fix that, so if you or anyone comes across a fix, please do let me know.
