Ok. I would like to get one that can cover a wide range of values, but preferably 3/8" because I have 8-19mm sockets in 3/8" drive, and a 3/8" ratchet.

I mean a 3/8" not a 1/2". What do you mean under 3/8"? Bolt or wrench?
You can get 1/4" drive wrenches and I have seen bolts as small as 1/4" or 6mm head.

In my tool box that I take to the racetrack I carry a 3/8" drive Blackhawk from MSC also a Craftsman 3/8" beam type along with an older Craftsman 1/4" beamtype for small stuff. At home I have 2 Snapon 3/8", 1 MAC and 1 Snapon 1/2" and a old Bluepoint 3/4". From time to time I take them to work with me for recalibration along withy the 2 wrenches I have at work. I am a Journeyman Mechanic and Welder by trade, with that said torque wrenches are very important to me and my job.

3/8 drive as in 3/8 drive torque wrench

i have a 1/4 drive rachet but i never invisaged a bolt smaller than 3/8 in a postion that needs torqueing

joseph
how accurate is the MAC wrench

the snapon ones seem to be alot less acurate than many cheaper brands

As far as I am concerned the MAC has held up fairly well in the 15yrs. that I have owned it. It has went back to MAC 5 years ago for rebuild for new ratchet. About being accurate its about the same as my Snapons. I have a $11.95 Harbor Freight that my grandson got me for fathersday 2 yrs ago, its a 3/8" drive and its a spare I have in the bottom of my rollaround at work. When I checked it for calibration it was on the money and it has held calibraton for 2 yrs of use when I do monthly hoist hook PM's. I use this cheapie because when I do this PM I am 30-40ft off the floor on a boomlift and I would not feel bad if I dropped the wrench. If I would use my MAC or Snapon and drop it that would be about $150 to $200 that hit the floor vs. $12. Of all the wrenches I have it seams the cheapies like the Harbor Freight , Bluepoint and Craftsman hold caliibration and seem to hold up better.
